Would you mind applying those terrible generalizations of Americans based on demographics?
You are saying the pick up truck owners are the most likely to be in prison or experience violence?
I call BS and want to see your work to back up this very poorly framed response trying to implicate your incredibly bigoted and hateful view of what you deem a redneck as somehow possessing all of these generalizations.
You must mean that "system" where you pay 50%+ in taxes to cover everyone elses ass? Gotcha.TxAgswin said:You bet.Mulberrywildman said:

Incarceration rate by country
The United States is #1 by far.. For every 100,000 Americans, 639 are in prison.
The closest European nation is Belarus (which is weird) at almost half that number. Behind that, you have Turkey and Russia which I don't really think are really European.
Statistically, the closest Western European country in incarceration rate is Spain at 122 per 100k. The US rate is five times that.
Side note - strangely, Palau, the British Virgin Isles, the Bahamas, Panama, Grenada, Guam, The US Virgin Islands, Saint Kitts, Costa Rica, Saint Vincent, and Anguilla are all in the top 20 for incarceration rates. Those are all beachy vacation destination countries. Weird.
Obesity rate by country
We do not hold the top spot here. In the AP poll we are #12 with an impressive obesity rate of 36%. Not bad. All the countries above us are tiny nations with tons of money, which makes total sense, so from a certain perspective, we are #1. The population of the top 11 fat countries combined is less than the population of New Jersey. We are almost certainly #1 in the Coaches poll.
Europe doesn't even come close. The Turks are pretty fat at 32%, but I consider Turkey an Asian country. Despite their awful food, the Brits manage to come in at 36th in the AP poll at a fat rate of 27% which is impressive. Spain lands at #62. Hard to blame them. Tapas are awesome.
The most interesting thing about this list by far is that North Korea is on it. Ranked at #163, this list says that 6.8% of North Koreans are obese. First off, how could anyone know that? Secondly, there is no way that 7% of people there are eating too much. You can't have famine and measurable obesity in the same country. This list has South Korea ranked #183, 20 spots below Pyongyang. No freaking way. South Korea has McDonald's and KFC on every corner.
Also, like the country list for incarceration rates, the obesity rate is dominated by beachy vacation destinations. Nauru, the Cook Islands, Palau, the Marshall Islands, Tuvalu, etc.
I'm super impressed with Palau. This tiny island in the middle of the Pacific has managed to have the third fattest and fourth most jailed population on earth. Just a bunch of pudgy criminals on that island I guess.
Student Loan Debt
We are by far #1 here. We are in reality the only one in this poll. Outstanding student loan debt is approaching 2 TRILLION dollars. That's more than the GDP of most countries.
Healthcare Debt
More than half our population has significant debt as a result of medical bills. It is by far the number one cause of bankruptcy filings in the country.
Europeans don't have to worry about it. Actually, hardly anyone other than Americans have to worry about it because we are the only country in the developed world without a system for universal health care.
But hey, we wear baseball caps and drive pickup trucks.
Yeehaw.

So, a 25-year-old American
- Wears a cap
- Drives a pickup truck
- Lives in a mansion
- Is married
And a 25-year old-European
- Does not wear a cap
- Drives a small car
- Goes to coffee shops?
- Plays video games?
Let's take those rose-colored glasses off for a second and use words instead of pictures - because we are adults.
A 25-year-old American
- Is statistically more likely to be in prison than any other 25-year-old in any other country
- Is embarrassingly deficient in math and science
- Is more likely to be obese than any other 25-year-old in any other country
- Can't afford health insurance
- Is likely in massive debt for a variety of reasons (student loans, credit cards, medical procedures, truck payments, a filthy mortgage, etc. You know...'Merica.)
- If married, has an extremely high likelihood of getting divorced.
- Is unlikely to have ever left 'Merica, but has a cap and a cool pickup truck.
- Plays video games
- Sports a mullet
A 25-year-old European
- Rarely has to deal with any sort of violent crime or school shootings.
- Is better educated than most 25-year-old Americans
- Can often take a job in the US and easily get a work visa sponsored by a US-based company.
- Likely speaks multiple languages
- Plays video games
- Sports a mullet
