I've been disconnected for most of the past two weeks and not really paying attention to anything political ('twas nice). Now I'm back and trying to understand the IRA that's being signed today, but I don't see any explanation of how it'll reduce inflation.

This isn't a trick question for anyone supporting the bill. I'm just genuinely not seeing any clear explanation of what it's intended to do and how it'll affect inflation.

Mind games. Manchin said he wouldn't vote for BBB because he thought it was an awful idea due to rising inflation. By calling it the Inflation Reduction Act it gives Manchin some cover for the LIVs.

Pretty much. And thanks to this, even if the rest of his presidency continues to be a cluster, Biden will still be able to say he got something passed. He may even call it a "Big effing deal".

But until gas goes lower, groceries go lower, rent and housing go lower, it won't matter.
