Kamala Harris's speech in California compares equality and equity. "Equity as a concept says to recognize that everyone has the same capacity, but in order for them to have equal opportunity to reach that capacity, well, we must pay attention to this issue of equity."

One heartbeat away...
Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

She's obviously a Word Salad Idiot, but I've said this before here - the subtle lib push to replace the word 'equality' with 'equity' that began under obama should represent a threat to the republic of the highest order.

'Equal OPPORTUNITY' should never become synonymous with 'Equal OUTCOME'. Should be treated as a straight up attack on our democracy and an attempt to replace our form of government with another. Most other countries would shut this sh** down so fast.

No, because some people are idiots. For example the person who made that statement.

She's gone thru 3 speech writers since Jan 2021.

This is who she is: a blonde bimbo, with the wrong hair color.

If you just throw money at people then yea, but properly allocating funds to rebuild impoverished communities is the right way to do it

BS, I have friends who more than achieved it whose families had next to nothing. Like wood burning stove for heat, plywood floors, drywall on 1 side of the wall, 1 room with a window a/c unit in the 2000s poor.

Without changing culture it does nothing. Without requiring "skin in the game" nothing will change for the positive. Six decades of the war on poverty should have proven this by now.

You just insulted many who started with nothing to end up extremely successful through hard work and persistence.

Statements like this remove motivation for those who want to advance from economic hardship to financial and personal success.

It is a great cope out however for those who are economically depressed and don't want to make an effort to improve themselves.

Poverty is the cause of gang culture, not the other way around. Also, there was never a war on poverty

When taking into account broad data and averages, individual experiences don't matter. I don't care that you grew up poor and became a millionaire. That doesn't invalidate the hardships that come with growing up poor.

Tell that to all the tens of thousands who Vietnamese who came to the country after the war. Most had nothing, but the vast majority have succeeded at a much higher rate than other ethnic groups or income classes.

That approach has been failing for 40+ years. Rebuild it and watch it fail again. It is the mindset of the impoverished communities which needs to change, and throwing more money at it in the same manner is insanity. It starts with civil obedience. Then throw in an effort to form a God fearing family when the babies come. And then take advantage of the free education that is readily available. Work hard and help thy neighbor. It's a simple formula to achieve a "middle class" life. Unfortunately, we have too many air breathers who just want free money for the same life they grew up in. It's not a lack of hope. It's laziness, lawlessness, lack of accountability and a sense of entitlement that perpetuates the poverty cycle. Help those who are helping themselves - the rest are Darwin candidates.

I would argue that a glaring lack of fathers in the home coupled with a seemingly indifference towards law, order, and education (at best) is a greater cause of gang culture than poverty.

But if you want to keep running with "can't help it cause poor" go for it, I guess. It is highly convenient.

Note she said "capacity". This is where they are trying to weasel in the idea that ALL people have the same capacity - it just hasn't been realized because of racism/sexism/etc. We know this is false.

I'm pretty smart, but I know a lot of people who are way smarter than me. I don't have some unrealized "capacity" by which I could be smarter - I'm just dumber than them. And there's no shame in that cause they're wicked smart.

Everything you described is the result of poverty and discrimination. Do you really think that if the black community wasn't enslaved, chased out of towns, had their businesses burned down, and denied housing that they would still have gang culture? I don't think so.

Why do some poor people do bad things, and others do not? Why do some wealthy people do bad things, and others do not?

Answer: values and culture.

The amount of wealth you have is not a cop out. But liberals keep trying to justify their goal of redistribution.

Of course individual experiences matter ….. they are a roadmap and important testimony which invalidate your belief that the hardships of growing up poor are permanent and cannot be overcome.

Someone needs to corner her on this quote and her use of "everyone" and not "every group". Rights and laws apply to individuals, not classes and groups.

Economic disparity is bad when the neighborhood you grow up in is the biggest predictor of success in life.

Ben Shapiro has it right on breaking generational poverty. You need 3 to do things:
1. Graduate high school
2. Get a job
3. Don't have children out of wedlock
