Because psychologically he is so full of himself that he will do anything to get what he wants. Whether it is best for this country or not. If he would have been successful our government as we know it would have ended there and we would have entered into fascism.

That makes sense--- "Staffers" and so since its pretty clear how stupid and totally economically illeterate Left college and staffer types can be it should be avery alarming even if it is only a bunch of Left wing staffers crafting GND and threatening the economy and trying to impose deranged school agendas.aggrad02 said:titan said:
IMO, I assume it is simply the way the December 2020 and January 2021 behavior looked like, and then Jan 6 just as it happens, does look reckless and unpredictable, and even dangerous. IF you are sold that what we saw happen in 2019-2020 passes the smell test. Those Jan 6 demonstrators simply didn't think it did.
So granting you have cause from Jan 2021 to think that perhaps, let it be asked---what have you to say about having unelected people run the Executive Branch? This shadow government stuff? Isn't it clear that Biden and Kamala are not formulating policy?
Does it not bother you that the government may well be being directed from overseas for all we know?
Yes this is a concern. (I'm not concerned with overseas) but I am concerned that "staffers" are running the place.
The mid terms can't get here quick enough, and I hope we have a good principled mentally stable Conservative candidate in 2024, maybe DeSantis.
But you maybe onto something --- the Biden Admin does resemble nothing else in the world quite as much as it does resemble a dysfunctional hard Left Ivy league campus crowd running things.
Okay.
At some point, an investigation will lead to the collection of evidence through the execution of a search warrant, which is what happened here. You seem to be saying that unless law enforcement executes a search warrant (or a "raid" as you call it) in order to recover evidence of murder, then any search warrant executed on a former president is "destabilizing" and an "egregious abuse of power."aggrad02 said:agjacent said:I'm trying to understand your view here. Are you saying that you don't believe a former president should be investigated for crimes, unless the crime in question is murder?aggrad02 said:
I have said many times that here, that while I am a libertarian leaning conservative, I didn't and won't vote for Trump. I think he is a threat to our democracy. I've been given hell for that by Trump supporters and that is fine.
But as to this raid, unless they found a dead body in that safe with Trumps finger prints around its neck, it is just as bad and just as destabilizing. It's an egregious abuse of power and will have long term implications. Even longer that Jan 6.
There is a difference between investigate and a "raid".
Also you need to up your metaphor game.
Even if you believe this to be true, the fact that he was not even close to being successful would make him NOT A THREAT, wouldn't it?aggrad02 said:texasaggie2015 said:Not trying to argue with you, but genuinely curious as to why you feel this way. I'm sure if you consider that a threat to our democracy then you feel the same about the current administration as well. If that's the case, then we can likely agree that politicians on both sides are corrupt people.

still waiting. Might be doing a little frantic "research" to come with a rationale. If you make claims like this, you should probably have a modicum of backup for them without having to run to reddit and ask for help on some potential specifics.

Your use of "threat to democracy" "overthrow our processes" and "fascism"
The scariest thing about tyranny is how few people recognize it.

Thanks for admitting to this corruption. Most of those who are outraged would agree that if there is evidence that a former president or sitting member of Congress committed a serious crime then law enforcement should submit a request for warrant to a non-partisan judge. Here we have law-enforcement who has already demonstrated political partisanship obtaining a warrant from a partisan magistrate to obtain a warrant to search for a nothing-burger crime. We know that it is a nothing-burger because it was treated as a nothing-burger when someone aligned with this agency's goals stuffed things down his pants. This is selective enforcement and a political attack, and is banana republic level corruption.aggrad02 said:

Damn OP. You can't walk into stuff like this. This is rookie level stuff. If you think trump is an idiot, just own it.
Don't say "threat to democracy". You can't wiggle out of that. You have to understand the mental capacity of your audience. What I generally say if I am forced to engage with the mentally shallow thinking trump humpers is…
"I voted for trump twice before I realized he was a loose cannon with the mental capacity of a 13 year old. Anyone that actually believes the election was stolen is a mental midget, but verbalizing that thought and helping validate lots of other people who are equally stupid creates chaos. He should have known his trump humpers would do something stupid like go to the capital and act like fools."
Like I said, Trump doesn't have the capacity to understand much below the surface.
