I have said many times that here, that while I am a libertarian leaning conservative, I didn't and won't vote for Trump. I think he is a threat to our democracy. I've been given hell for that by Trump supporters and that is fine.

But as to this raid, unless they found a dead body in that safe with Trumps finger prints around its neck, it is just as bad and just as destabilizing. It's an egregious abuse of power and will have long term implications. Even longer that Jan 6.

They are NOT the same thing. Calling the US a democracy is a subversive tactic by the commies used to minimize the importance of the Constitution.

I'm not a Trump supporter in the least. He was "meh!" as Prez, but way better than Biden is or Clinton would have been. This idea that he was/is a threat to "democracy" is blowing spit bubbles level of stupid.

But yes, the raid was egregious and desperate.

At the height of COVID, Trump was given the greatest opportunity to assume power a US President has ever been presented with. Even his most fiercest critics were practically begging him to tell them when they could and could not leave their own house. And Trump passed on this unprecedented power. For a supposed authoritarian, he sure is bad at it.

Never Trumper here as well. I haven't yet worked up any outrage on the raid yet. I guess I'll see how it unfolds.

Trump started a trend of casting doubt on every election republicans lose with no proof. If people don't believe in democracy, there will be chaos. That's what trump wants.
