Covid was a no-win situation for Trump.

More people died under Biden's "watch" than Trump. You'll never hear that from the media.
No, I don't care what CNN or MSNBC said this time

Had Trump gotten rid of Fauci he would had been promptly removed from office. It was a no win situation for Trump.

Agreed. It was eventually going to hit us, just like it eventually got to New Zealand.

He still handed this country over to Fauci to run.

They impeached him twice and he was still in office.

Y'all don't have to goaltend for him anymore. There's a candidate without his baggage ready to step in.

None of the polls showing Biden as the 2024 candidate are valid.

NONE.

They are a complete joke.

They're valid. But only in the sense that they're designed to continue to levy pressure on Dems to dump him.

Because Trump ultimately failed as a leader, he's erratic, egotistical to a fault, he's got tons of warts across the swing vote portion of the country, hired horrific people all 4 years and operated a chaotic administration. And he's TOO OLD.

He got my vote before. I can't imagine a scenario where he'd get it again. I'll vote Libertarian or write in Rand or DeSantis.

DeSantis is the future.

Trump was in a no-win situation in 2020. If Trump disagreed with Fauci, the media plastered him as "not following the science" and "not listening to the experts".

Bottom line is, he was plastered by the media for anything and everything he did, and I hate to think about what would've happened if the COVID outbreak had occurred under this administration. At least Trump didn't MANDATE vaccines.

This is revisionist history at its worst. Trump was under attack from both sides of the aisle from the very beginning, he was still able to have our country in excellent shape economically at home and had our enemies retreating on the world stage. I don't know what you were watching.

You're right to an extent, but the answer isn't to give up it's to fight back intelligently. DeSantis (I know, him again) organized panels of highly respected physicians to openly discuss a wide variety of solutions and also sought advice from qualified staff who analytically considered a range of factors (like impacts on kids, etc.). That's the highly defensible foundation that his policies were built upon and the results speak for themselves. His state loves him.

Trump... He doesn't seem capable of organizing that pointed analysis, much less communicating the results and how he's using them to develop policy.

Pull this up later if I'm wrong and I'll eat crow, but I still don't think DeSantis (or any Republican) will win in 2028 if Trump is president in 2024. But DeSantis is a slam dunk in 2024 AND 2028 if he is the nominee.

oh yes. it's already been fact-checked by everyone in MSM that Killary would have handled everything 2020 threw out there much better. Oh wait.. .She would have still had Fauci leading her task force.. she would have still incentivized businesses to re-purpose for ventilators, masks, hand sanitizer, etc. She would have still authorized emergency funding like the PPP loan program (only probably would have given out a lot more), she would have still incentivized big pharma to expedite vaccine production and FDA to approve them, ...so actually, 2020 would have still been 2020 even with the great leadership of the ex- carpet bagging jr. senator, ex-horrible failed Sec of State, Killary!

A lot of people said to DeSantis was in a no win situation when he got sideways with Disney. That's the difference between a leader and a statesman and Trump. DeSantis absolutely steamrolled Disney through the legislative process and articulated the issue so well to the public Disney was able to defend their position.

Few sitting VPs have gone on to win the next election. GHW Bush was the first in many many years. Nixon won on his second try 1968. And that was largely because the year 1968 was such a s***show and RFK was assassinated.

if you want desantis to be treated fairly have trump as VP. will never happen but can you imagine the conundrum the dems would have in their hand. push to hard or try to inpeach desantis and you get your worst nightmare.
I posited this idea a few days ago. It is an intriguing idea I think that could really cause problems for the opposition. However, as you said, Trump would never go for it.

A Trump/Ron ticket with Trump on top would be a bad idea for DeSantis fans. No way he survives a four year stint. Trump's biggest problem in terms of a running mate is he is too much of a hand grenade. If someone pulls his pin (if he doesn't do it himself), he's going to take out his team in collateral damage. It's just to much risk for the reward. DeSantis can do this on his own.

Trump deserved his second term, and if he wins the nomination I'll try my best to give it to him, but DeSantis should be the next president.

I really get tired of these kind of arguments. My life gets better when anyone is president because I make better choices the older I get and I'm in a industry that benefits greatly when people and the government spend money they don't have. That corresponds to democrats running the show.
What I worry about is if they go far enough, it will effect all of us and we'll lose the ability for people to have agency over their own lives. This in my view is starting to happen already I want our country to continue to be somewhere I want to live. Oligarch in Russia where I have to watch my back and not espouse my views? No thanks! Factory worker who might can express his uneducated view because education is unavailable to him and no one listens anyway? No thanks!
The CCP is not any better and most of the rest of the world is trying to create a utopia from the top down as well.
The USA has saved lightning in a bottle by historical standards by not trying to impede personal liberty but harnessing it to benefit all.
I believe in that but I also reserve the right to spit the bit if it becomes counterproductive with my vote.
