China seems to be pushing it pretty hard that Pelosi not go to Taiwan.

Though I wouldn't mind this witch being dispelled to Hell where she belongs, don't want to see an all out war with the Potato in charge.

China shooting down the Speaker of the House would be an overt act of War and that would be a disaster for China. The US would cut off Chinese shipping in a few days and destroy their entire Navy in a week, maybe 2. Only way the US would lose is to invade the Chinese Mainland or if it went nuclear. We could starve China in weeks, they simply cannot survive without shipping.

Lots of things I hate about Biden and Pelosi but stopping China from taking over Taiwan is not on that list. Taiwan has very real value to the US unlike Ukraine. We should do all we can to avoid a war but we can't just let China take Taiwan. Japan won't let that happen either. I think Biden has been clumsy as hell with China and is corrupt as well which makes it odd how strong he has defended Taiwan (my guess is he is getting better bribes from Taiwanese Chip companies).

What is the purpose of this "Tour of Asia"? What is the purpose of antagonizing China to go to Taiwan? What is so important right now?


Seems like one last trip on the taxpayers before being voted out of office.

Don't get me wrong, this is a lose/lose. Still there is no way we would be able to sit back and let China shoot down a plane with the Speaker of the House aboard. Period. I don't care if it is Pelosi. That is a legitimate act of war and we would have to respond in kind.

BTW, my guess is that in Biden's call with Xi they talked about this and Xi likely said they would bluster and say nasty things while doing nothing of consequence. What we see is the show not the substance.

China isn't going to do anything to start a war. They can see the downward trajectory our military is taking under the plague of liberalism. All they have to do is bide their time. If China knows anything, it's how to wait. They like the long game.

Bad take. China doesn't have that kind of time and they know it. Bank runs are happening now. Their population is already shrinking. We're a decade from them having more retirees than workers. Maybe less. Their economy is going to crater and there is no world where that improves without the US military. Our military decline is only bad for China. They cannot benefit from it and they know that as well.

My guess is that Pelosi/Brandon and the Chinese are conducting a little political theatre here. They want to up the tension in the Pacific. Get the war drums beating a little.

My guess is that a few Chinese Fighters show up and get uncomfortably close to that Witches plane. Maybe lock on with radar.

Why ? ? I am not sure. Maybe give the Chinese reason to shutdown shipping to the USA and make our store shelves even more barren and sparse. Increase shortages of goods.

If OP is trying to say there would be no loss, that's true. But the problem is we would have to react and it would start a war.

Favor PaulC_80's take --- this is actually a mutually arranged diversion --- it would make total sense and otherwise makes none at all. Neither she nor Biden are capable of saying anything competent in Taiwan.

I'm certain many of these trips at the end of their time is for members of congress to lineup their kids/contacts/business partners to inherit their contacts for the future.

Most interesting/telling part of all this is the level/intensity of the prc rhetoric. You would never have seen these kind of threats made under the previous administration.

At this point she pretty much has to go but wouldn't be surprised to see her back down blaming something like catching the china virus or something.

Should've kept it quiet and just shown up there. Anyone know who/how the original story broke?

Can you explain how "our" military decline is bad for China. Unless you are Chinese, this makes no sense to me.
