The globalist billionaire who funded the woke transformation of Thomas Jefferson's Monticello paid for a similar overhaul of James Madison's house where the author of the US Constitution has been shoved into a supporting role, while slavery and racism take center stage.

No American flags fly at Montpelier, Madison's plantation home in rural Virginia, and not a single display focuses on the life and accomplishments of America's foremost political philosopher, who created our three-branch federal system of government, wrote the Bill of Rights and the Federalist Papers, and served two terms as president.

Instead, blindsided tourists are hammered by high-tech exhibits about Madison's slaves and current racial conflicts, thanks to a $10 million grant from left-leaning philanthropist David M. Rubenstein.

"I was kind of thinking we'd be hearing more about the Constitution," one baffled dad said when The Post visited the president's home this week. "But everything here is really about slavery."

Monticello is going woke and trashing Thomas Jefferson's good name in the process.

The Charlottesville, Virginia, home of the Founding Father and America's third president is one of our best-known national monuments, familiar from its appearance on the nickel since 1938.

But the hilltop mansion designed by Jefferson himself, once preserved as a tribute to the author of the Declaration of Independence, now offers visitors a harangue on the horrors of slavery.

"The whole thing has the feel of propaganda and manipulation," Jeffrey Tucker, founder of the libertarian Brownstone Institute and a recent visitor, told The Post. "People on my tour seemed sad and demoralized."

The new emphasis is the culmination of a 10-year effort to balance the historical record, officials of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, the nonprofit that owns the estate, have said.

But visitors complain that employees go out of their way to belittle Jefferson and his life.

"The tour guides play 'besmirchment derby,' never missing a chance to defame this brilliant, complex man," Stephen Owen of Enochville, NC, wrote on Facebook.

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

What a crying shame. Liberals hate America, our founding, our history, and end up ruining everything they touch.

I pray at some point there is blowback against crap like this and our true history is relearned and understood, both the good and the bad.

Why couldn't they show the notably untroubled and tame life of Jefferson without bringing that woke nonsense about "slaves" and "sexual assault", what a downer!

Hey, White people eradicated slavery in their sphere of influence a century and a half ago. Now it is the POC's turn.

Well, TBF, Jefferson was the president who decided to take decisive action against Muslim terrorism and slave-taking in the Mediterranean, freeing British and other European sailors from their cruel servitude. And Jefferson believed in individual liberties and struggled with the idea of owning other human beings, calling slavery the greatest threat to the American republic.
So I can see why a leftist would feel the need to degrade his legacy.

I am thoroughly convinced these people want to put an end to our Constitutional Republic and see power removed from the hands of the masses (e.g., think of our resistance to assaults on the First and Second Amendments), on whom they look down and deem incapable brutes standing in the way of their utopian visions, and remain within an elite few.

I had a similar observation after a Monticello visit a couple of years ago. Jefferson's Monticello largely exists to discuss slavery. Jefferson was a fascinating man but it doesn't really try to put him in context. And some of the guides don't even have their facts right. The whole thing is much more focused on the political agenda than it is the history.

Give it all, with the proper context and perspective. That's what history should be. Moreover, to make the historical focus on one of our Founding Fathers not only mostly about the negatives, but not even providing the context regarding the negatives, is simple propagandizing.

If I want to hear about slavery, I'll visit the AA museum in DC.

Jeffersons home and memorial should not be abused by the woke idiots on your side of the aisle to push an agenda. Slavery had nothing to do with his role as a founder.

Funny that a liberal, whose entire ideology is based on racism, would decry a slave owner. Dems have put millions of blacks and browns on their plantation and won't let them succeed their way off of it.

They love them some permanent underclass. That's why they are importing 100s of thousands of people from South of the border. They care less about those people than they do a spotted owl, much less.

They'll try to tell you it's the republicans and conservatives that are the modern day fascist book burners because they don't want gay and trans children's books in the elementary school library, but the progressives are obviously the ones trying to rewrite history. Yep. They have to tear down the men that wrote the Constitution before they can get rid of it. As soon as +50% of the people believe that the writers of the Constitution were disgusting individuals that owned slaves and stole their wealth then they can convince that +50% that the Constitution needs to be **** canned. What will come next will be something far different and a terrible form of Govt.

Went to Montpilier back in 2017 and loved it. Had a fantastic tour guide take us into his library and talk about the way he put together the Constitution. Didn't shy away from talking about how he inherited his wealth or owned slaves, but that wasn't the only thing discussed. We saw the good and bad.

Looking at this and reviews on trip advisor, it sounds like it's completely looked at to see Madison's slaveholding as the central and defining factor for everything he did. Really really disappointing- it's been ruined so a political narrative can be advanced, and since they're enshrined leadership that promotes the woke ideology I don't think it'll ever be fixed.

I am so glad I visited before this happened. I was a chaperone for the high school choir trip to Washington DC. We went during the Spring when the cherry blossoms and it was beautiful. It was cool seeing it all though the kids eyes. I visited as a young wife when my husband was serving his Army Reserve " summer camp". He was given a choice of Hattiesburg Ms or Washington DC ( specifically Walter Reed Hospital ) . He picked DC.

Go to these historical places and WHOOP & APPLAUD the woke's efforts, but not in the manner you think. Rather, give "High 5s" to folks in your group when they mention slavery, etc. Congratulate the guides' focus on all the "bad" as if it is a "great"; thanks to Left, we live in an upside down world of reality, where men can get pregnant & have periods, so play their game and leave them utterly confused about why their efforts to tarnish our history is having a backward effect.

And don't worry about appearing 'racist'; you were already labeled as such by the Left the minute you even wanted to visit these places.

This is true and worth noting. As said before, America is an idea more than a piece of land.

Thomas Jefferson we a legit bad ass. Human freedom has advanced more since July 4, 1776 than it did in the previous 200,000 years of human history. His words and deeds set that in motion. God Bless Thomas Jefferson!

Historical monuments, museums, artifacts, and etc should always value the truth no matter how dark, or evil those truths may be. The truths holds far more value than incorrect perceptions no.

The past was whitewashed and erased… until now, if that is the quote you are going to use you should be ecstatic.

The founding fathers' accomplishments should be celebrated but there is no reason to not also teach the darker side of history so we don't repeat the same mistakes.

I think an investigation how this guy made all his money is in order. Doesn't sound like equality if he is hoarding billions while so many people suffer in the world. I bet the woke mob would be all in favor of seizing this guy's fortune and redistributing it all.

If the Republicans become known as the party of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Thomas Jefferson and the Democrats are the party of BLM, socialism, and inner city blight I don't see that as a positive for the Democrats. That's a way to lose the middle to the Republicans for a generation.

Lol, we've been slavery free for 150 years. We haven't repeated that same mistake despite the fact that we've not had a woke anti Jefferson history lesson at his home in DC since it was opened to the public.

No, we don't need to teach the darker side to avoid enslaving people again.

Agreed. Sometimes facts get the most of people but unfortunately these people made choices in their lifetime that deserve the right to be spoken on. There doesn't need to be a reason to speak on these things as kings as they are facts or truths.

Is there a section in there about how blacks were sold by their fellow brothers to European traders?

And how blacks in American owned slaves ..? How very few Americans owned slaves. Or how thousands of white people died in the civil war to free the slaves ?

Looking at the past with todays moral prism is a fallacy
