One thing that is often overlooked is that Ukraine was/is divided into pro Russian, and pro Ukrainian factions. Their modern politics was often a case of Russian Oligarchs vs Ukrainian Oligarchs vs Reformers, usually with the Reformers taking it up the rear.
I have not delved deeply enough into it to see which faction was supporting the Bidens, but Joe's action as a VP lends me to believe that they are in bed with the pro Russian group. Then along came Trump to act as a speed bump in plans. So when Biden on/stole the election a tacit green light was sent to Russia to take what it wanted. Unfortunately the stubborn Ukrainians decided not to roll over and die like they had done under previous spineless US administrations. This created optics that demanded the US "so something". And short of sending troops, dropping a few billion dollars of weapons into the Uke army made sense.
I am of a generation that grew up thinking (and still do) that anything that hurts Russia, helps the US. I am also capable of believing that a nation can have two mortal enemies at the same time. So if China does something stupid I will support the US bringing the hurt to them as well.
Seven and three are ten, not only now, but forever. There has never been a time when seven and three were not ten, nor will there ever be a time when they are not ten. Therefore, I have said that the truth of number is incorruptible and common to all who think. — St. Augustine
