This weekend is their all-star weekend. This is a time to showcase their stars. Yesterday was their equivalent to the NBA's all-star Saturday night. They held it at a makeshift gym and only select individuals were invited. And instead of televised on ESPNU. Here was their reasoning for not inviting the public.

WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert says that yesterday’s Chance the Rapper concert at WNBA Live was not open to the public because of fears due to gun violence. She mentioned that as a concern when planning fan festivities this weekend in general

Today is their all-star game. I can name a handful of WNBA players. For their all-star game they are wearing Britney Griner 42 jerseys to start the 2nd half. So here I am at the gym and I see the game on TV but I have no clue who these women are or what team they play for. They need to learn from the NBA how to showcase their top talent and make people interested in them.

It still probably wouldn't have helped me but for a young impressionable fan you have to make it easy for them.

I've tried to watch a couple of wnba games. They are worse than watching kids play lawn games like croquet. It is so boooooooooooriiiiiiing

I remember going and watching my daughter play basketball and afterward I would let her visit with her friends for awhile just so I could watch a few minutes of the boys game. I love my daughter but the basketball was so brutal that I had to watch the boys for at least a quarter to make up for it.

Basketball was started as a filler activity to keep boys in shape between football and baseball season. Still can't believe we have a national entertainment industry built around it.

How could there be gun violence at an event nobody will attend in the first place…?

I also just did this search. The amount of either crap countries soccer leagues and non-mainstream sports (handball for example) about the WNBA is very funny. Borderline sad.

Below the E-Games Overwatch League. The WNBA make 30+ million less than some group playing video games.

They didn't open their all star game to the public because their fan couldn't afford a ticket and they just want to save face. How is this not obvious to everyone?

. Aren't professional sports basically a monopoly protected by Congress? Congress passes new legislation saying those leagues have to give x dollars to DEI which means money to women's sports and the dementia patient signs.
