Federal police can't enforce state laws unless the state lets them, or they're on federal property. Their authority and jurisdiction is limited.
There are not near enough agents/ officers right now to do federal work. A fed usually needs to be on a task force with locals to be effective. No way they're going to produce the multiple thousands of local and state officers.
What in the world would a nationalized police force even do???
