Curry as we know it goes back to when the Portuguese landed in India in 1498. Curry powder is a British creation, and is an abomination that should be used sparingly. Native Indians have their own spice blends that can be curries, and they certainly know what it is, but may not call it a curry. And the Indians were using lots of spices well before the Portuguese got there.

It's a disgusting spice. It smells awful and tastes even worse. I like Thai food, some Indian food and other stuff I just will not eat anything with curry. It's just nasty.

It doesn't have anything to do with "growing up" people have different tastes. I also hate coconut and sweet potatoes. Hope that doesn't upset you too much.

she mad bro!

I don't like the earthy, dirt taste that often goes with curry. I think the spice is turmeric. I also don't like beets or jicama because of the dirt taste.

Give the Brits a break on curry powder. They never encountered spice before and seemingly have not re-discovered it since.

2 day old seafood gumbo should be the exception. Gumbo tastes better after being refrigerated and re-heated.
No. Shrimp should be consumed right after it is cooked. Other than that...it isn't any good for all intents and purposes. And I absolutely love shrimp.

But it prevents Alzheimer's so your options are to eat it now or get Alzheimer's, forget you don't like curry, and eat it after your brain is already mush.
Tumeric and curcumin are the ingredients that prevent Alzheimer's. They make pills with those, and they don't have any flavor. I take one every day as they also are natural anti-inflamatories and help with my RA.

Not mad at all.

Just don't see the correlation with liking a certain food, drink or spice with maturity or even a well-rounded palette.

He can eat all the nasty curry he wants.

Oddly enough, I like most foods, but the ones I don't, I don't.

Never cared much for the ranch dip for pizza, but each their own.

When I was a kid, I used to eat pizza slices upside down. My idiotic logic was that all the taste was on the top so I wanted it closer to my tongue. oh well.

Ice cream can help coping with Alzheimers, that'll cover it.

Although I don't eat a lot of ice cream. I like it, just don't eat it much. But Rocky Road or vanilla mostly if I do. But ice cream sammiches are da bomb.

What I find befuddling is how ranch tastes so much better as a dip for pepperoni rolls than it does for a slice even though they are the same ingredients.

I got the thread idea earlier when I went to the restroom and was smacked upside the head by the fish/shrimp smell as I walked down the hall.

I just went to microwave my own turkey and sausage jambalaya and as I turn the corner what do I find, a dot Indian nuking curry.
Years ago I worked in an office and the CFO was on nutrisystem for awhile.

One of her favorite dishes was this cod fish frozen dinner. It made the office smell awful. So I know how gross the could be. I don't even really cook seafood much at home for the same reason, but love it out.

You're a weirdo, Annie. Just kidding. That's a funny story though.

Did you ever buy into the 90's Pizza Hut stuffed-crust fad of eating your pizza backwards like the commercials? That's a memory from my childhood.

I was a mostly normal kid, the pizza thing not withstanding.

Oh and I though vampires would bite my neck so I kept the sheets up to my neck, kinda still do sometimes out of habit. I saw a vampire spoof movie when I was about 7 once and it scared me at the time. Weird, because I've always liked horror movies. Still to this day.

I sort of remember that commercial, eating the stuffed crust first. As much as I like cheese, never was into the stuffed crust much. It was a clever approach though. Which pizza chain had the "avoid the noid" dude?

If there has been a more incorrect statement in the history of TexAgs, I would love to see an example. I cannot even imagine a world where fried foods did not have a side of ranch dressing. It is a world not worth living in.

Double Dave's "Peproni Rolls" do not have tomato sauce, and I think that is the kicker. I completely agree with your take, though it has a little different spin.

The part of the pizza with toppings, I don't dip in ranch. The crust; however, is target rich for ranch. Peproni Rolls, 100% take a stop in the ranch before consumption.

While tasty AF, even the almighty gumbo cannot be allowed.

I'm sure several examples could be found on political posts where someone claims the 2020 election was completely above board. Or another that claimed Trump was gonna round up all the gays.

Curries are yummy but not microwave friendly. The worst was during a consulting gig at a software company and a certain floor had all the Indians there. During lunch time we were treated to the smells of dozens of various Indian dishes being reheated. I still twitch during night when I have my flashbacks over the smell.
