Yes, they don't want to be judged, so they want to bully you into not judging them with the power of government authority as much as they can.

The secular liberal believes that the way to achieve corporal good is through the government, which requires people to act in a way that is good. That is why it is so dangerous to them for there to be anyone who thinks that what they believe is not good... it's like saying their God could not enforce good. It's more helpful to realize it is their religion.

It's more than just not wanting to be judged, which is true. They also want whatever negative activity they are engaged in to be validated. To be judged means that there is still some line drawn by which to measure judgement. They want no line at all.

When it comes to women and abortion, this is how they actually think. All leftists are 100% identical to this mentality:

I agree with the spirit of the original post, but many conservative Christians would say, "it's wrong, and we need to pass laws to keep you from doing it."

Other than killing babies and grooming children? Examples of others "X" values?

You are free to do X yourself as a consenting adult and not affecting minor children.

This is a pretty easy one for a Lib to counter. All they have to do is point out that there are anti-abortion laws being triggered in red states. So there is some degree of control trying to be put in place, they aren't entirely free to do whatever they want.

It's not perfect. That said the argument about abortion is not about what you are doing to yourself, it is about what you are doing to the baby. Same with grooming. You can do whatever freaky crap you want but you can't do it with a child who by definition can't consent. That actually illustrates the point. One side looks at the rights of each individual, the other assumes that their own actions are more important than those that they impact if they are a dependent or not yet born.

Tolerance is not affirmation. You can be 'strange' in America and 99.99% of the time you will be left alone as long as you don't hurt someone else.

But I will never affirm your 'strangeness'. God will sort it all out eventually. Smoking or Non Smoking. Choose wisely.

When it involves killing children or grooming kids we get involved. The slipppery slope is real and eventually we get to the bottom and it's just a **** ton of mud piled up there.

Nice straw-man.

Do you actually have the examples I asked about?

Also, in regards to your straw-man, in case you missed it, it's 2022, not 1540. The CC hasn't persecuted anyone in the manner you describe for a long time.

In fact, the Church has reformed in many ways to assist it's members work through difficult times where they did not 50-years ago (like Divorce, people who have had abortions, etc.).

Notice the pivot? Tanya'esque, really. Was beat on the initial counter so jumped to a different one. Will jump again once that one gets beat.

You could even say they have liberalized and found a different niche in a far more secular world.

There is a line crossed when your X endangers others.

But the OP is not about arguing the nature of X, it is about the nature of those that want X. It is still a quite valid point.

You could even say they are still fighting the same old battle against the same old evils, but times change and the battlefield and weapons are not the same as they were in the middle ages.

(ETA: Though prayer to the Lord will never be obsolete!)

Christian person: I think it is morally wrong and a sin against God so I will not have one, but you are free to have an abortion because it is none of my business

You have to be a woman.

Only a woman would rehash something from 500+ years ago to help their argument.

If you have never encountered a Christian advocating for outlawing (for example) abortion, homosexuality, gay marriage, adultery, sex toys, fornication, sodomy, sex education, contraception, divorce, pornography, sex work, or material deemed obscene/blasphemous on the basis of biblical morality, you clearly live in one of our state's many majestic caverns.

More like:

Secular person: I want to do X.
Christian: No.
Secular: Why not?
Christian: Because it's wrong according to my faith.
Secular: But your faith isn't the law.
Christian: Well it should be. And the people I vote for will make it so.
