The new law limiting magazine size gives current owners of high-capacity magazines six months to modify them, surrender them to police or transfer them to people in states where they are legal. After that, anyone still in possession of an outlawed magazine could face up to five years in prison or a fine of up to $5,000.

The other measures raise the age to buy a firearm or ammunition from 18 to 21, and prohibit people from openly carrying loaded rifles and shotguns in public.

And these people are idiots. I've seen trained cops unload clips on guys who keep coming. Yes, for home defense it's entirely possible you need 10+ rounds.

But either way, that isn't the point.

It isn't just the need to have a high round magazine. Quite frankly, it's because I can and want to have one, and I don't need to explain to anyone else further

I wonder if there is legal precedent to force the state to pay for magazine conversions or replacement? If the city/state/whatever can impose insurance requirements or other onerous burdens on a lawful gun owner, there should be some legal method to claw back dollars when they impose a requirement such as this.
I won't even mention that Rhode Island is the size of an average west central Texas county.

This is exactly why I have a glock with a 14 round clip. Even highly trained LEOs will miss several times under duress.

More than 10 may be needed for defense. Also, less than 10 is such a beating when doing range work. Compliance would be a big "no" from me on that.
