I'm trying to decide what I think about this. On the one hand, it's true that it's wrong to define a group of people by their fringe members, which is why it's always been bull**** that Trump voters have been labeled racist. On the other hand, sometimes the fringe of a group merely says out loud what the intellectual commitments of the group entail, even if the center of the group doesn't yet recognize that their central commitments entail the ends they do.

Another example of this were the Rasmussen polling results from half a year ago that revealed that roughly 40% of liberals polled believed that people who refuse to get vaxxed should be incarcerated against their will and like 30% believed they should lose custody of their children. Yet you didn't hear any of your lib friends on social media saying this...but you damn sure didn't hear a single one speaking out against it either.

What used to be considered "fringe" on the left is increasingly mainstream. We have a very tiny spec on our side that are loony, but they have a large contingent of absolute psychos that hate us and would like to see us all suffer the worst. They celebrate what is evil and detest what is good. You will almost never hear a white liberal speak out against permanently altering a child's body based on their whims or phases re: gender. Their warped politics has become a vile religion.
