Just like Slick Rick: He was for it, before he was against it.

Dan was a SEAL, he fought for this country and was wounded in the process.

I think that's the point where my respect for Dan ends.

Was he ever pushing FOR red flag laws, or was he saying possibly that some variation of minimal red flag laws in extreme cases might be on the table. I.E. someone who has tried to kill himself multiple times should be flagged etc.

I honestly have no idea what he said originally, just that all of a sudden people said he was pushing for red flag laws a few yrs ago. I have a hard time believing he was ever advocating them in even close to the same sense that Mitt Romney or Chuck Schumer would be, but am all ears.

This is coming from a guy who has been disappointed several times by the guy, but he's still far more conservative and logical/reasonable than the vast majority of politicians.

Dan Crenshaw is like the hottest chick at midnight and your ten beers in. at the time it looks good but once you have sobered up you find out it was all smoke, mirrors and booze. to bad he seemed to have potential but has lost all credibility in my book.

Dan, with his pedigree, has been a rather crushing disappointment all around.

That being said, like it or not, I am glad he flip flopped on this. Whatever the reason.

It would take way more than ten beers for me to a take a chick home that had an eye patch

Is there more...or just him 3 years ago saying 'maybe'.

I dont fault a guy for saying 'maybe' we should look at this. Getting all the info, and then saying...nope, I'm against them.

I'm not a big Dan C fan, but in my humble opinion, he seems to get a much worse rap around here than he deserves.

This, I have been critical of him when warranted, and maybe he deserves it here, but I am choosing to give a little benefit of the doubt.

I am about as far right as you can get, and in a hypothetical world where government is 100% altruistic, fair and honest, I would be A-OK with red flag laws. Even with the corrupt government we live under, I sometimes wonder is there are certain mental conditions that should bar you from ownership. At least until you can eventually be medically cleared somehow. Like genuine schizophrenia. My buddy used to work in a pharmaceutical clinic that housed homeless dudes with schizophrenia...one was 100% convinced his father was in the room with him and my friend at times...I wouldn't want that guy owning a gun. But ultimately, I realize it's a very slipper slope given the world we live in and would much rather allow these crazy dudes to own guns than restrict my right to do so.

Crenshaw is great, and we need more like him.

If you want morons like AOC or MTG, Crenshaw isn't your guy. I get that.

But I can support someone even when I don't agree with them 100%.

By the way, Crenshaw is 100x more conservative than Trump.

Meh, I would prefer actual conservatives. But like Trump, if the choice was Crenshaw or AOC, then yes I would vote Crenshaw.

He's against it now because his vote means nothing. If his vote was needed for it, he'd vote for it. Look at the ten GOP senators who are signing on. They are either retiring or safe until 2026

He has been propped up to make a big run in government one day. That SNL fiasco was coordinated to get him national publicity a couple of years ago and to serve as a launching point. The problem now is it turns out he doesn't think on his feet very fast and isnt able to tell half lies so he can't be pinned down to a position.

The good news is he has exposed himself as John McCain 2.0

And I would vote for the block of concrete that is laying on the road over aoc so that isn't saying much.

See this is a reasonable take. I absolutely understand the slippery slope argument but it is worth discussing. There are certified nutcases in the world that will 100% do crazy things with a weapon and everybody (their family, doctors, etc) knows it. It shouldn't be outlawed from even discussing whether we should prevent that without opening it up to abuse. I don't fault Crenshaw for that.

What would we call a law where a person is prohibited from legally purchasing or possessing a gun after due process?

I'm thinking about how the sick little f*** in Uvalde could have been stopped from purchasing his weapons after years of obvious signs.

Okay that Trump is for them and against due process. But looking at them is a bridge too far

Don't think you know what the term means

Trump is for red flag laws. That's a fact. People give him a pass. Crenshaw said they should be looked at. BURN HIM!!!

Nobody here is saying they support Trump's stance on red flag laws.
