Mexican President Vows to Influence American Elections

Mexican President Andrs Manuel Lpez Obrador expressed he would be willing to influence the rhetoric surrounding the U.S. midterm elections if any candidate were to speak poorly about Mexicans, while speaking on his desire about the U.S. reforming its immigration system.

"We are not going to allow Mexican migrants to be questioned in campaigns to supposedly win votes, we do not accept xenophobia, we do not accept racism," he said at a May 20 press conference, referencing the U.S. November elections. He noted that his policy is "non-intervention and self-determination."

"And if a party, candidates, thinking that if they speak ill of the Mexican they are going to get votes, well, from here we are going to denounce those facts so that our countrymen over there know who is who," he added, warning that there are over 40 million Mexicans in the U.S.

If anything this would likely do more harm than good for whomever he is trying to support(or do more good than harm for whomever he is trying to denigrate).
My wife is Mexican. Mexicans know who talks ill of Mexicans without an outside influence, but some of them dislike Obrador just enough to do the opposite of what he says.

If this is what a strong relationship looks like between Joe and Mexico then I'd hate to see what a bad relationship looks like......lol

He says this, but had nothing to make it happen.

Oh, and not to worry, there is another migrant caravan headed our way that Mexico has allowed to move up.

What about the Hondurans, Guatemalans, Africans, middle easterners etc that are mixed in with the Mexicans? Will he let the politicians hate on them?

If Mexico would enforce it's own laws and not allow migrant caravans of thousands trespass the country for weeks on end just hoping they make it to the US border so it becomes our problem..... maybe we would have a more cordial relationship with Mexico.
