The guys always portrayed himself as a liberal. Him being the poster boy for tu should be all anyone needs to see that
I went to Texas and am as big a Longhorn as anyone. There is not a soul on earth who would accuse me of being liberal.
You are a dying breed and a minority. I know lots of horn buddies that don't recognize the school they attended anymore and many that don't want their kids having anything to do with it. It used to be kind of a cool weird vibe with hippies and the occasional nutjob but most Texas students were still Texans and many were very conservative (the movie Fandango is a great example of the culture). Hell it was fun to go from CS to Austin every so often to hit Sixth Street and maybe the lake, I could definitely see the appeal even if it wasn't my thing.
Not so much anymore. Now it is all leftists and not liberals, the campus is ugly and often dangerous and if you dare speak against the woke they will destroy you. The exception is the Engineering side which is overwhelmingly Asian or has students that only want to live in a dark corner coding for 4 years. It's a great place if you want to have your kid come home as Non Binary after a Semester or two like 2 of my friends have seen happen.
