I don't really think the tweet is necessarily angry about the ice cream but the trademark next to Juneteenth, which is really stupid by Walmart.

And the reality is that Juneteenth ice cream should freaking taste like watermelon.

Juneteenth is a summer Houston/Galveston holiday. I don't know about you guys but when I think summer and Texas I'm reminding of picking watermelons from my grandparents patch and having grandad slice big pieces of to give to all of us grandkids to eat outside.

The only other Texas summer taste that reminds of my childhood in Houston is the mosquito truck. Doubt that would sell very well.

Walmart does not own the trademark nor is it trying to trademark Juneteenth as the OP's tweet suggested.

However, Juneteenth is trademarked and products carrying it have to send a little to the trademark holder and indicate to those purchasing the product that it is trademarked.

We've heard that about products in the past, and amazingly, it is believed by a surprising number of people. Wasn't it 'Jolt' cola that got tagged with that BS?

I swear, though, some folks' life mission must be to find offense in every ... damn ... thing. It's a shame that so much human time and energy is put into such things when so many more productive pursuits are out there for the taking.

The real news here is that Wal-Mart management thought that their virtue signaling by issuing a flavor celebrating a holiday like Juneteenth would mean anything. Libs are haters, so they will hate even when you do something nice, like acknowledging a holiday that announced the news of the end of slavery.

They apparently thought this was going to be celebrated like other federal holidays. On the Fourth aisles are festooned with the Stars and Stripes on various products, for instance. But evidently this new holiday should go by unmarked in retail judging by what some are saying.

Walmart has already pulled it.
