Well that was dumb. Why on earth would you make equal amounts for outlier sizes?
Because, you know, equity.

Certainly not shareholder equity.

This meme is an allegory about Old Navy and their virtue signalling.

So the chain said everything will henceforth be available in sizes 0 to 30. Also to demonstrate they are accepting of all, the sizes would be ordered in equal numbers each, showing no preference and thus displaying
How could anyone over 5 be that stupid?

This is what happens when the Diversity/inclusion officer has more input then the marketing and supply chain people do.

Of course the supply is messed up but their equity marketing plan likely didn't add a single unit purchased and the opportunity cost is probably in millions of $.

I imagine there were plenty of people trying to explain the bell curve to decision makers who chose wokeness over logic.

Not to mention overstock makeup that retailers ordered in every brown shade last year. I saw a huge clearance bin at HEB.

Hello, San Antonio has white people and brown people but cannot sell tons of 15 shades of ebony, sorry about your inclusion.

Last but not least, Banana Republic had cami tank tops in "every skin tone" guess what was on the clearance table 4 months later, piles of skin tone tanks that were too dark for the whiteys and latinas.
Ugh, this is a real problem for me. When they started making the new inclusive shade ranges a lot of companies stopped making product for see through pasty people like me. I can hardly find anything light enough anymore and I can't be the only one.

Ironically, there is pretty good data available about the percentage of people with various skin tones in the US population but they ignored that. Instead, they used the hive-mind consensus confimmed by the Twitterverse to convince themselves that's there was a huge market for darker skin tones and extra large sizes. Unfortunately for these MENSA candidates, Twitter bots don't buy clothing at Old Navy or anywhere else.
