I grew up as a pretty big Olympics fan thanks to the '84 LA games. Both summer and winter have been required watching for me--mostly for sports that I would never watch otherwise. The IOC has done their best to lose me as a partner. I'm happy to walk away since they don't want me anymore. Two weeks of my life every two years that I get back.

Now do it with college sports and kill Title IX.

It's the norm in women's college basketball to have a scout team they practice against made up of men. Typically guys who were good HS players but not college prospects. Like a guy who made all-state as a 6'3" PF at a 2A HS or the kid who was an all-district point guard at a 6A school but is only 5'8" or something.

Anyway, there used to be a poster here on TA I was acquainted with who's son was on the scout team for our women's national championship team. IIRC, the kid was all-district for Argyle when he was in HS. The scout team was similarly accomplished guys and that national championship team couldn't stay within 30 of these guys.

Hell, you could take the 4A all state team and they'd blow the doors off any WNBA team.
