It used to be a joke on here, but now using MJ is cool (and political). He's BACK!

https://www.foxnews.com/sports/ricky-williams-cannabis-changed-mindset-deal-social-anxiety

Oh...And he's starting a new lifestyle brand...

"Highsman" to provide "education about cannabis use to help break the stigma of the lazy pot smoker".

Quote:

Williams launched the cannabis-lifestyle brand Highsman in October 2021, releasing three types of flower under his brand Pregame, a sativa; Halftime, a hybrid; and Postgame, an indica. He also teamed up with Jeeter to roll out a live resin pre-roll and vape set called "Sticky Ricky."

Maybe he should have smoked less weed and he would have had a good NFL career

He played 11 seasons in the NFL and is #31 all time NFL rushing leaders. The average RB career length is 2.57 years. Id say he had a pretty good career considering he didnt play for 3 years in the NFL, and then came back and did pretty well for the Dolphins.

This topic is always fascinating to me because it truly shows the power of propaganda.

Now isn't that something? A running back with longevity?

11 years!? That's nuts in the NFL.

And here we have a dope claiming he could've improved his stats had he been off the weed.

As i get older and the chronic pain issues crop up, I'm more inclined to side with Ricky. If it helps, sign me up.

What's funny is how much fanfare there was that day in '98 and then Ron Dayne broke it the next year to barely a whisper.

I don't know how different his career would have been, but I find it a little funny that he wants to change the stigma of lazy pot smokers when he literally quit his job to smoke weed.

but would he have needed to quit if it wasn't illegal?

Gummies really help with back and ankle pains, if that is what your problems are.

There's a reason why opposition to marijuana legalization statistically falls off a cliff after age 70 or so.

There's this narrow window of Americans currently between the ages of about 40 and 70 who strongly oppose marijuana statistically and that's who largely controls the legislative process right now.

Well, I'm 48 and have lived with chronic pain (lower back) since puberty. It's always been manageable and could work around it most likely because i was young and in great shape.

However, I've had a parade of skeletal/muscular issues since I was 45. MJ is now on my list as a mitigating solution as traditional medicine runs its course.

I haven't been opposed to legalization of it for at least a decade, but now I'm actually pursuing consumption of it for the first time in my life. Had my first fully powered gummy in CO 2 weeks ago and it was pretty eye opening from a pain relief standpoint. Just have to be careful on the job front if I find something I want to apply for and try to get.

Cannabis has real benefit for many patients suffering from chronic pain, anxiety, PTSD and many other conditions currently treated with high cost, high side effect profile, prescription medications.

The only propaganda with cannabis is propaganda by big pharma to try and prevent the erosion of their market share. Cannabis is low cost, natural, non prescription in some states, very low side effect alternative to traditional prescription medications.

This scares the **** out of big pharma and you will see the propaganda against cannabis ramp up significantly in the coming years as it becomes legal in more states and at the federal level.

There is plenty of good data on the benefits of cannabis. If you are against it, I suggest you look at the data with an open mind. Then, keep an open mind and look at the results of microdosing of psychedelics. Cannabis and psychedelics can be extremely beneficial in the right patients. There is a shift coming in the treatment of chronic pain and mental health. Educate yourself before dismissing it.

It does if you shift addiction to narcotics, prescription sleep meds and anxiety/depression/bipolar meds to a non-addictive natural alternative without side effects and at a significantly lower cost.

Advil during the work days. 10 mg gummies at night and on weekends. Just enough to take the stress edge off and no chronic pain but still stay coherent enough to take care of everything I need to do.

It does if the shift is towards marijuana and away from far more dangerous medications like narcotics and benzos.

Did you try any of the creams out there? I've used the CBD cream from The Trusted Lab in the past, helped somewhat. My MIL turned me onto it, she swore by it.

I have. I haven't found that it did much for me although I might not have given it enough applications/time to property vet it.

I have no problem with therapeutic cannabis usage, but to ignore the fact that the combustion byproducts of smoking the stuff are harmful seems to border on malpractice.

I could kiss you!

Now I wanna know all about you! What area do you practice? When are you moving to a state to be able to recommend cannabis/psychedelics as a reasonable (reasonably attainable), or do you already reside in a favorable locale?

Any thoughts on Mindbloom? They're sending ketamine to your door and then a virtual appointment with a therapist afterwards. That seems crazy!

And here we are arguing over cannabis as if it doesn't have one of the most excellent profiles of performance in just about any health-related category with minimal detriment that aren't temporary, with minimal costs for production.

Absolutely silly that there are uneducated miscreants shilling propaganda attacking the plant at any angle a shallow media portrays for them.

Be careful with Advil. I used it a lot when I was younger for migraines and now have non progressive kidney disease. No more Advil for me.

Understand an can even enjoy the benefits, but I do not want pilots, surgeons, firefighters, etc... getting stoned. Also the common denominator of all the school mass shooters...so kids too, along with all the other meds liberally prescribed needs to change.

I don't follow the NFL anymore so I don't know how many draft rounds there are now. There used to be 8. There was once as many as 12. At one time before that, teams could pick "future" draft choices. Obviously, they could always pick up free agents. The "average" career you speak of is illusory, especially in this case. Ricky Williams was a Heisman winner. He broke and may still hold the FBS record for rushing yards. He was a top 5 draft pick. He isn't anywhere near the average category for comparison purposes. He should be compared to guys like Tony Dorsett, Marcus Allen, Barry Sanders, Adrian Peterson, Reggie Bush, and OJ Simpson, not guys that struggle to get the last roster spot like some kid that played a couple of years at San Jose State. The only guys he comes anywhere close to is OJ and Reggie. Bush was somewhat of a bust and OJ a) had injuries; b) had a much better yard per carry than Williams; and c) waited until after his career to go crazy.

I don't think there's anyone out there that thinks Ricky Williams had a "good" NFL career. The Saints didn't want him, getting rid of him in his prime. 2 years out of the league, missing millions in salary; latter years with lowball contracts. Probably at least 5K yards under his potential. Absolutely no HOF consideration though he could have been mentioned had he played at the level he did his first 2-3 years had he stayed off the weed or at least not let it take over his life.

No matter all the miracle claims made about pot, I'm still never going to touch it, even if it was 100% legal.

I don't like taking an aspirin, much less anything else.

Cannot agree with this post more!

Being the resident TexAgs "pothead", I can truthfully say that the stigma around cannabis needs to go away. I smoke almost everyday and I'm one of the most productive media specialists at work, I just managed to earn my third college degree, and I maintained all of this while being a new parent. It's truly on the individual.

Ricky Williams wasn't even the top rated HS RB in California when he was recruited.

I will save you all the trouble looking up who was. It was Sirr Parker. Sirr Parker was leaning toward Washington. Jim Lam right accused us of cheating when he signed with A&M. I have pretty much hated UW since then.

I'd argue without weed Ricky's career would have been shorter as he was already dealing with major social anxiety issues dating back to his HS days.
