The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has declined to pursue any felony charges against the man accused of attacking comedian Dave Chappelle on stage at the Hollywood Bowl Tuesday night. The case has been referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office for consideration of possible misdemeanor charges.

The man, 23-year-old Isaiah Lee, was taken into custody by police and booked for assault with a deadly weapon on Tuesday night. He is being held on $30,000 bail.

Quote:

The District Attorney's Office issued a statement saying, "After reviewing the evidence, prosecutors determined that while criminal conduct occurred, the evidence as presented did not constitute felony conduct. The District Attorney's Office does not prosecute misdemeanor crimes within the city of Los Angeles."

There was no immediate comment from the City Attorney's Office on whether it has begun to review the case.

When keeping it real goes wrong.

If I were a performer, I would refuse to perform in counties that don't prosecute these types of crimes. How is this not a felony assault?

Why, because he didn't stab him? Did he have a knife in his hand or not?

If he had the knife in his hand when he tackled Chapelle...how does that NOT constitute felony assault?

Simple explanation for no felony charge...
Attacker was black, no such thing as black on black crime.

They'd sure be singing a different tune if it was a cop or DA that was attacked on that stage.

Assault with a deadly weapon all because the left has ZERO sense of humor or ability to ignore what they don't like.

It's going to take another Dimebag Darrell event to get anything to change (not that his murder changed much policy wise to deter stage rushers)

Never heard of misdemeanor AwDW.

Is that actually a "thing"?

DA, yes. Cop, depends on where you are. DC won't file Assault on Police Officer unless the cop has to get some work done at the hospital. Resisting arrest, that will never get papered in DC.

Had A drug dealer stopped, had his ID, went to get him out of the car (he had a gun in the door pocket, he took off through a busy rush hour intersection, barely missing cars. Had his 4 year old son in the backseat, no car seat, not even in the seatbelt at that time. AUSA (DC DA) wouldn't paper felony child endangerment, because the kid didn't get hurt.

If the kid had gotten hurt, there's more charges than endangerment.

In all these urban areas (and other D areas) defense attorneys/ public defenders have just ran and gotten elected as DA's. Crime has become a viable career option in these places.

This needs to start to happen. Also, cancelling conventions and meeting in these places. Businesses need to move to other places and state exactly why. Until these cities start feeling significant pain in their wallets this crap will continue.

He's a person that can see, and argue, both sides and has massive reach and appeal. He's also open to having his mind changed (same as Rogan and there are always similar comments on any thread with his name in the title). That's someone I have common ground with and can work with. While I understand your frustration over the times we're in, I promise we'll never get past it with this attitude.

Technically, dude can't be charged with a felony aggravated assault. Didn't present the fake weapon while he rushed the stage, really no physical harm was made, really only caused a very public startling experience for DC. He was referred to local AG for misdemeanor charges.

But, he paid a nice little price for this stunt. Holy cheet batman, DC's crew did to him dirty backstage? DC bragging about it when he returned. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't get felony assault charges & civil lawsuits. Dumbass's right arm was literally twisted completely backwards, shoulder destroyed, face shifted a bit.

Even better, he is a supporter and proponent of criminal justice reform. We should congratulate him on experiencing the consequences of his political decisions.
