The football team entrance song at Kyle Field is laced with several MF bombs (profane) and racial slurs.

Is this woke, anti-woke, wise, appropriate? Other?
Still hoping to get a straight answer on this one:

Were you complaining about Power in 2014?
No I was not. Started off just desiring something other than a silly cartoonish song. This was before I actually googled the lyrics. Once that happened...it had to go.

I'm serious. Nobody seems to have an answer as to whether the song and its acceptance is woke, anti-woke, naive, ignorant?

OK, you're up...or anyone else perhaps?
Your obsession with this song is so odd. They don't even play the lyrics you object to.

Playing that song is neither woke or anti-woke...whatever that means. It's a pump up song. You should hear what's on my running playlist.
So let me get this straight..you think its appropriate for TAMU to align itself with a song with lyrics which are profane (use of MF bombs) and racial slurs. I'm not sure what woke means either. Hoping someone that does will jump on here. My guess is your playlist contains much of the same type of garbage? I think I'll pass..

What would be so difficult about sourcing a non racist/profane song and putting this one our to pasture? Thats the goal..is that really so odd?

Once again, the version they play contains none of the stuff that you are offended by. In fact, based on what you said earlier, you had to actively seek out the explicit version's lyrics. You literally went looking for something to be offended by. What does that say about you?

Honestly, wasn't aware that there was an alternate version. A simple google search revealed the lyrics. Trust me, I did not seek out the other version. Just being honest here. I do wonder since only 10 seconds or so of the song are played...which version is being played? How do we know? Again, which core value led to its selection? I suppose an audible "disclaimer" could be played just prior to the song informing us? Why was a non-explicit version even created? Thanks for clearing things up. Things have really gotten fascinating now. I still maintain we need a new entrance song. TAMU should distance itself from the NON explicit version which is clearly tied to the racist, profane one. Nothing wrong with upgrading the song to something better as this one, whether is a different version, is pretty weak with little power. Crazy that some would want to promote this. I won't pretend to guess what this says about you. We've never met.

The goal remains the same; the vision firm. Racism has no home at TEXAS A&M.

Well, I would say based on this, woke is not a good thing. Spouting off racial slurs and profanity is probably not what most of us would want our children involved in. TAMU needs to easily correct this.

That I don't know, but I'm certainly not convinced it really matters. You can not post those lyrics here on TA due to the anti-profanity algorithms in place. I'm not certain, but the artist that created the song may have some serious misgivings about releasing something as bad as this song.

A&M has a golden opportunity here to become part of the solution, not the problem.

If you only knew the truth...not trolling at all. Perhaps you wish it was a troll.

Dissemination of information is what I term it:

The team entrance song for Kyle Field is so profane and racist, a second more socially palatable version was created for public consumption. Do we really know which version is in use? Should either version be associated with Texas A&M?

Personally, Muthafu.. and nigg_ are somewhat offensive still. Guilty.

Kid is there now. We actually talked about this during dinner.

"The woke kids are in University Honors. They are all international and gender studies majors. I'm glad to be out of northside where they all live. Being on the south side with the engineers and other stem majors next year will keep me away from all the REEEEEEEEERS. They are the biggest attention seeking people I've ever been around."

Easy answer: check the ratio of Arts degrees vs Science degrees. If Science isn't clearly dominant, then woke is present.

This is a pretty safe metric because the pool of candidates for Arts professorships are absolutely dominated by leftists. The only exceptions are places like Liberty or Hillsdale who publish their mission of being conservative.

This is some great insight!

Yes, and the indoctrination is not so subtle. I have a kid there now, and just know that part of the application to get INTO the university is a "Diversity Essay". Then, they are forced to take and pay for courses that meet the liberal goals of social manipulation, such as "Cultural Discourse Requirements" , "International and Cultural Diversity Requirements". Kid is taking a "World Theatre" course to satisfy one of the requirements (has NOTHING to do with any benefits for intended major -- engineering), and says it is horrible. Super liberal hogwash... trying to survive to get what was presented by other students as an 'easy A'... but hates every minute of it.
There are some real eye openers as to indoctrination courses. Some aren't horrible, but some, well are really bad, such as "COMM 338 Critical Race Discourse", "PERF 223 Aesthetics of Activism", "SPMT 336 Diversity in Sport Organizations"

It's been woke for a good while. I remember the time I first sat in on one of those parent presentations at a new student conference. Must have been 2013 I think. One of the students came in and stated her name and said "and my preferred pronouns are she / her / hers". That was literally the first time I had ever heard somebody say something like that. I felt like I had entered an alternate universe.
That's pretty crazy.

I graduated in May of 2013, and I never heard anyone talk about pronouns at all while I was at A&M. Granted I was an Ag Engineering major, but I was in a FLO my freshman year, and I'm certain the political makeup of that group was balanced, if not leaning slightly left. I still talked with some of the people from that organization my senior year, and was friends with almost all of them on Facebook still. That kind of talk was never made in public, if at all.

The International & Cultural Diversity requirements have been a thing for at least 12-15 years. When I was in school, you could take a dual credit course that would count as an ICD credit as well as one of your basic credits, like a history or a fine arts credit. I agree they have nothing to do with your major, but then again, why did I have to take a history or social studies class for an engineering degree?
