Just think of them as Transgendered bars. Condos that think they're drinking establishments.

Have you been to Austin lately?

The entire city has been a gay district for at least a decade

Ya'll are going to laugh when I tell you this--

Back in the day (90s)-- the HOTTEST girls in Austin hung out in the gay bars. They'd get tired of dudes hitting on them on 6th street-- so they would go hang at the gay clubs.

The gay area label aside I bet it is really frustrating for the actual locals to watch everything that made that city fun and unique utterly destroyed by their own progress.

Also this comment amuses me. Yes, a city that is only a hair less liberal than San Francisco isn't safe for gays unless they have their own gay district. Good lord that is absurd. Just avoid areas where equal opportunity criminals congregate (like 6th Street) and you will be fine.

"Fourth Street has been kind of a second home for me since college, when I was in the closet to now that I'm an out gay man, and want to spend time with my community in a place that I and the community finds safe compared to other options. It means a lot to me to preserve it," Hlousek said.

This is my exact thought, just now.

The whole city is Liberace banging Elton John, on a rainbow shaped...and colored....bed, gay.

If that is a gay country bar, I've been there. We met some ladies at the old Cedar Door and they wanted to go country dancing so they took us to the gay country bar. We were in college; they were in their mid-30s.

urban myths on line 1.
Think what you want hoss. When Buffalo Club and Paradox started getting too sausage fest in the Spring of 95- the hotties started going to the Rainbow and Oil cans. Club 626 or 262 or whatever was another spot. The Daqueri factory was played out by then.

Back in the day, my cousin worked at a gay bar cause 'the tips were better'.

Funny thing is, now he is a major MAGA guy and even went to DC the week BEFORE 'the insurrection', but luckily came home before the spooks started locking people up.

Used to frequent Paradox before it got too many dudes. The only ATM across the St on 4th where the fox and the hound was at Harry's. Always made sure I had cash.

Truth. Every hot girl I knew would go to gay bars to dance without being rubbed up on all night.

Not to mention he is hunting hard game. Trying to take down a bear with a .22. why would you do that!? Go to the known bars where they don't card you! Or to the blind pig, where they showed porno on all the screens. Just look at what the girl was watching and easy pickings.

There used to be the Boys' Cellar there too. In HS we'd go there because it was a bar that would reliably let us in and serve us drinks, which probably has something to do with why it closed down a long time ago. And yes, you could totally meet straight girls who had their guard down there and drunkenly dance to Cher songs with them.

E: Google informs me it was actually the BOYZ Cellar

My wife and her girlfriends went a few times late 90's/early00s. She got hit on every time by bi dudes looking for a trio and was even more repulsed

Everything went downhill after Leslie died.

But on behalf of this gay Aggie, Halo in Bryan was 10x the gay bar that any in Austin couldve wished to be. I only went to the gay bars in Austin a few times, and there were more Bachelorettes than bottoms, ten to one.

Didn't realize Halo was a gay bar.

Guess I missed out on a lot of free drinks.

They used to do foam parties there on that lower dance floor. We just KNEW the smoke show girls would all show up bra-less to frolic in the suds.....(that's how stupid your brain works when you're 20). It was a total sausage fest. I never went back for the foam parties. Copper Tank from that point on.
