Good riddance to rotten refuse. Gone down the path of those similarly deserving.

"Democratic regimes may be defined as those in which, every now and then, the people are given the illusion of being sovereign, while the true sovereignty in actual fact resides in other forces which are sometimes irresponsible and secret."

Nailed it.

"The Fascist accepts life and loves it, knowing nothing of and despising suicide; he rather conceives of life as duty and struggle and conquest, life which should be high and full, lived for oneself, but above all for others those who are at hand and those who are far distant, contemporaries, and those who will come after."

Pretty noble sentiment from a wild guy. May he rest in peace.

Oh Mussolini was completely crazy but that doesn't mean he wasn't a great man too. Like Alexander the Great or Lawrence of Arabia. Not morally excellent, but still remarkable.

Lol like admiring certain qualities in Mussolini is substantially different than Alexander the Great or Julius Caesar. You have no good reason to be fine with one and horrified by the other.

Some people are able to analytically observe traits that led to certain results without finding themselves in admiration. To each their own.

So me saying that Mussolini was a superb orator is true but...? Bad to say?

No. I didn't say it was bad to say that someone is good at something. I said that some people can recognize that someone is good at something without specifically admiring that person for it. That's all.

Yeah, so Mussolini had some good ideas and some really excellent abilities. He was successful for a reason. Not sure why there's any fuss about that.

Methodology and execution. And depending on which of his ideas you're considering, you might encounter disagreement as to whether or not they were really good.

And I'd also counter that if your methods result in deconstruction of your accomplishments and personal execution, your degree of success is debatable since everything fell apart rather quickly. If you want to break things down into individual successes within discrete units of time then that's different.

Just alternate angles of view, I suppose.

Most euros speak several languages. He wasn't exceptional in that regard. Just… average.

This. Could throw in Ghenghis Khan as well. He was a genocidal warlord but still had some impressive qualities and was a fascinating individual and cool to read about.
