Austin, want to move back to SA
If you haven't already bought, then I'd say be patient and keep saving a larger down payment. We will be in a recession by December and costs to build houses will drop due to increased inventory on the ground. If I'm right, builders will discount their inventory. You'll find better deals with a larger down payment which will put you in a stronger position. Take the advice or not, but good luck.Dupree said:
Easy for you older boomers to sit and say in the comfort of your homes. POS homes are going for 400k here in San Antonio, how the **** is anybody supposed to afford something decent

100% disagree.
Capitalism should not be curtailed to "fix" any problems. The ingenuity of the masses can overcome any entity if they want something bad enough.
On the other side of the argument, maybe have a nonresident tax like colleges charge out of state tuition.

People should only be allowed to own 2 homes max in Texas. Foreign entities and domestic investment companies shouldn't be allowed to buy up properties. Sometimes the government needs to step in

Probably not a popular opinion, but I would love to see something in the way of blocking foreign governments & foreign nationals from purchasing property here….
Even if we just stopped China it'd be a win
It'll never happen though bc the entire establishment washes their crooked money via china

Starts thread blaming older generation because she's poor and then leaves because she "doesn't want to argue."
Lol
I don't see how young folks are going to be able to purchase a home at a young age. You're looking at needing $80k just for the down payment. In my industry, that would take a while.Dupree said:

This is the other thing about dumb kids. They want all the nice **** I can afford. But yet don't feel they need to wait 20 years, working at progressively higher positions, all the while staying married to the same woman, who also works and has progressed far in her career.
So no. I don't give a **** that you're poor and I'm loaded. We used to be poor right out of college. And instead of being a whiny waste of space we worked hard and made ourselves millionaires.
Be a better person.
You have support for this statement?Dupree said:
A lot of your generation was making double what mine is if we count for inflation. Y'all were never "poor" . This is also the same generation that complains about millennials who job hop and aren't loyal to companies
Not much because material and labor costs have skyrocketed. Demand isn't the only pressure on the pricing.ProgN said:If you haven't already bought, then I'd say be patient and keep saving a larger down payment. Your generation (and i am assuming you are an individual over 45)
is the reason why a college education has exponentially outpaced the cost of inflation and the reason college students graduate with either worthless degrees or a quarter mil in debt. you created that environment for the younger generation. Yes as a generation they have made some ****ty decisions.
but then i ask you who raised them and ill prepared them to make good decisions? its not a one way street.
accept a little responsibility for the mess you left for the younger generation.
after all your generation raised them and created the **** show of a society they now find themselves in. They just now have to live in the garbage heap you created.

Hey man, every generation has challenges. The boomers you like to **** on had to endure double digit interest rates and runaway inflation. Gen Xers like me got our ducks kicked in by the 2008 collapse. You'll have your chance to make hay if you keep working hard and make smart financial decisions. Don't vote for radical democrats and your path will be easier.
