People should only be allowed to own 2 homes max in Texas. Foreign entities and domestic investment companies shouldn't be allowed to buy up properties. Sometimes the government needs to step in

100% disagree.

Capitalism should not be curtailed to "fix" any problems. The ingenuity of the masses can overcome any entity if they want something bad enough.

On the other side of the argument, maybe have a nonresident tax like colleges charge out of state tuition.

Your first sentence is 100% wrong. People should be allowed to own however many homes they wish.

I could see a case for keeping foreign companies and Gouverneur out of single family housing.

It's not an issue as simple as you're making it.

Easy for you older boomers to sit and say in the comfort of your homes. POS homes are going for 400k here in San Antonio, how the **** is anybody supposed to afford something decent

So I live in Dallas. I also have a beach house on the gulf. And then I get a place in College Station for football/baseball weekends and my kids to live in when they are in college. You'd have an issue with this? That's stupid. My money to do with as I please.

I feel your pain, but trust me - MORE GOVERNMENT is NEVER the answer.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

Individuals owning multiple properties is not a problem and not a cause for increased housing prices.

What is a problem are huge hedge funds like BlackRock and other companies like Zillow buying up significant numbers of homes to hold and resell. If you are going to regulate, regulate those POS and not smalltime folks.

That's not really what's happening. This is a pretty complicated issue that's been discussed ad naseum on here.

I agree with you tho it sucks. I'm 30 and still stuck renting for the foreseeable future. But I would never want to limit someone's ability to purchase more property if they so choose and I certainly don't want the government anywhere near approving or disapproving transactions based on someone's assets.

You sound like a brat. I'd bet dollars to donuts that if you posted your monthly expenses, we could find ways for you to trim the fat, but that would require you to give up something or somethings you want or enjoy.

Probably not a popular opinion, but I would love to see something in the way of blocking foreign governments & foreign nationals from purchasing property here….

Even if we just stopped China it'd be a win

It'll never happen though bc the entire establishment washes their crooked money via china

I bet I can look at your budget and tell you where you are wrong.

Any person in America can be rich if they want to bad enough. Anyone. And anywhere in between. Make $40k per year? You can be rich in 10 years

You are in SA?

Good lord what a terrible idea this is. If someone wants to own multiple houses why should they not be allowed to? I have a home, condo on the coast and ranch. Which one of those should I be forced to give up…my primary home because it's close to a major metro area? My condo because it's close to the water where people like to retire?? Or my ranch because it's in the middle of nowhere??

I am not bragging at all, my wife and I have had a second home for going on 15 years. We were able to afford it because we chose to buy our future vacations as a result we've never been to Hawaii or Europe, we've never been skiing, etc. If you have/want to live in a certain area then you have to pay the piper, my dad worked close to the airport in SA and he had coworkers that drove to the office from Bandera, Lytle, LaVernia etc, while living in Hill Country Village or Alamo Heights would have been a lot more convenient. When my wife worked at USAA she drove in from New Braunfels for 8 years, she had coworkers who drove in from Castroville, Spring Branch, Pipe Creek, etc. Just because someone wants to live in a certain location doesn't mean that they can. But you can sacrifice someway and get what you want in most cases but it's usually a trade off between convenience or domicile comforts.

Yeah. One for me. And one for my wife.

But then again I didn't vomit socialist whiny drivel all of the internet at all hours of the day.
