An Icelandic on line publication did a story on Afro-Icelanders back in 2019 where the writer described the "awful" condition of black people in the US.
My former FIL (from my first husband, who died) was stationed in Reykjavik during the early 60s. Air Force pilot.
He had moved his family (five kids) to Alaska when he was stationed there but Iceland was a no go back then. He was a very funny and flirtatious kind of guy but when I ever asked him anything about his time in Iceland or Los Alamos, he would just shake his head and raise his finger to his mouth, "Shush!"
