Useful people generally want no part of that job. And if he ends up owning Twitter he's far more powerful than any president ever could hope to be.

No. Elon is better as a private citizen than he'd ever be as a useless government employee. Elective representatives at best, in today's society, are benign tumors and at worst metastatic cancers.

My point is that he hasn't committed to the right at all. He does his own thing. He says of himself that he's middle of the road… in his words "socially liberal and fiscally conservative ". Given that the right seems to direct more rage into the culture war than the economy, we will likely do something to tick off the right at some point.

There are varying degrees of "socially liberal". It's not an all or nothing idea. Musk is socially liberal in some ways, but potentially not others.

So am I, and I"m pretty gotdamned far right on almost everything. Example - weed, legalize it. Thats socially liberal. That doesn't mean that I agree with letting 4 year olds have permanent gender assignment surgery or that a libtard kindergarten teacher should be able to push their agenda and brainwash kids or that I believe in more than 2 genders (because that is all there is).

Now, he may be on board with a lot of that - I don't know. But simply because somebody is socially liberal doesn't mean that they are uber left and want all of this stupid sht that the rainbow flag and whatever other fringe movement wants to try to normalize.
