I will disagree with this in at least one aspect. It is much easier to deal with someone who is honest about what they believe in and is principled enough to try to win on the basis of their beliefs. The crooked politician will lie to everyone and cheat their way to winning. At least with the honest person, you know what you are getting even if you disagree with them.

I have at least some respect for the principled democrats. Bernie Sanders, Joe Lieberman to name a couple.

In case you haven't noticed, common sense is a left/right issue. One side wants to give hormone blockers to 7 year olds and let men play women's sports. There is not a lot of common sense available in those stances.

You often see "classical liberal" thrown around. Classical Liberalism is Adam Smith/John Locke, laissez-faire, economic freedom, small government, individual responsibility-type stuff. It doesn't mean "Democrat from the 90s".

Bill Maher said this exact thing on Joe Rogans podcast this week. He said that people keep asking him why he changed and became more conservative. He argued, correctly, that he hadn't changed but the Democrats had moved so far left that it makes him look more conservative. And he is exactly right.

Same thing has happened on the right by the way. But that's for a different thread.

I respect her. I respect Lieberman. Bernie is a punk who will not fight when push comes to shove.

The problem is a true believer in any form of government besides the constitution will bend or shred the constitution to get what they believe, absent some powerful religious or philosophical convictions.

Corrupt people are also predictable- just need to figure out where their interests lie and how ruthless they are. Pay enough attention and their actions will tell.

A segment of the Democratic Party has gone so far left that "normal" democrats sound based by comparison.

It's why I don't worry as much as many of you about the march leftward, it's unsustainable. Eventually so many Democratic voters will be alienated that it'll tip the scales back the other way. You're already seeing it in Florida and Texas with Cuban and Mexican immigrants. I've never seen or heard as much resentment towards democrats from Hispanics in my lifetime.

Why is Tulsi this way?

As vice chair of DNC in 2016 she saw her boy Bernie get railroaded when DNC rigged primary for Hillary right under her nose. Then few years later, Hillary pulled the "Russian agent" narrative on Tulsi. She is a dem outcast that the deep state has red flagged.

So yeah she is a social liberal with no economic sense, BUT she at least recognizes the clear and present danger of the deep state. She has the courage to speak out and acknowledge that corrupt dems and their deep state henchmen are much worse than billionaire outsiders who mean tweet.

She is a liberal with principles and common sense...I know, it doesn't make sense.

She is in no way conservative. She is a rare democrat that actually believes in the rights of the people. She actually desires to serve as a representative of the people instead of taking power and "leading" the sheep by the scruff of their neck, telling them what is best for them….
