OK, I stand corrected on the date. But it did not cause the shortage, which was the claim.

I fully recognize the important of formula to many families when mom doesn't produce enough, kid can't/ won't latch, or other problems.

But it seems to me that would be the exception, not the rule in terms of species survival.

Why the popularity of dismiss when the expense is tremendous?
My son was born at 30 weeks, 10 whole weeks early. He was too ill to nurse but I did pump so he got at least the initial protection. Pumping isn't the same as nursing so unfortunately I had to supplement with formula. My daughter was also early but only 5 weeks. Because she was just under 5 pounds she did not have to stay in the NICU, so I was able to nurse her. I was working full time when pregnant with both . I took an unpaid leave of absence for a few months with both. I was able to nurse my daughter for 8 months. She refused to drink out of a bottle and went directly from the breast to drinking from a cup. I really feel sorry for the moms that do not at least try it. It was a wonderful bonding experience.

Breastfeeding is hard dude. It can take the baby awhile to latch on.

I've accidentally seen nipples before of moms who I'm friends with because the baby unlatches.

And a secret trick my buddy would use to calm down a baby is trick the baby into sucking on his finger and think it was a tit.

Wife breastfed our first for 9 months. Second for 4 months and the third for about 4 hours. All three are healthy and loved. Fed is best. Whatever you choose make sure they're full! Sucks baby formula is in short supply

Pumping while at work or travelling without kids is a big inconvenience for many. My wife is breastfeeding or 9 month old still, and she has to pump multiple times a day at work. We went to Hawaii in February without the kids. We needed a huge RTIC soft cooler for her milk on the way back and we barely made a connecting flight because she had to pump during a short layover.

Exclusively breastfed both kids for 1 year plus. Very thankful I was able to do it with very few struggles and the babies took to it easily. We had birth center births with minimal interventions which helped.

Zero judgment for parents who have to feed formula, but I am very annoyed at the medical establishment who pushes formula much too easily on struggling parents who can't push through the first few weeks.

Breastmilk really is the best, but if course not of a baby is going hungry then fed is best.

Pumping is the absolute pits. All the time commitment without the pleasure of bonding and interacting with your baby. I found some functional and modest pumping tank tops and have pumped while commuting by car, on multiple flights and while walking around the office doing charts. You can't see anything but the milk collected but it was funny to see people react to my dairy operation when they noticed. Thank God that part is over for us…I have a toddler who just nurses on waking and before bed right now.

They aren't mocking him adopting.

They are mocking him taking off for maternity leave when the coubtry was in the middle of a crisis amd faking like he had the same stressors and nees to take maternity leave as a biological mom who had just given birth.

Your fake outrage schtick is old, tired, and just plain juvenile.

I have breastfed babies for most of the last 10 years. I can't even imagine bottlefeeding all the time, especially in the middle of the night! For me, breastfeeding seemed way easier. Our babies slept with us and I didn't even have to fully awaken to feed them. I do realize that this doesn't work for everybody, and feel blessed that it was relatively easy for me. I am surprised at the percentage of parents who use formula. I also wonder how many mothers who had trouble producing enough didn't nurse their babies frequently enough in the first few weeks. I literally would nurse probably every 30-45 minutes the first few weeks which helped establish a really good supply.

I read them.

And the only mocking i saw was them mocking a dude pretending to breastfeed. which is worthy of being mocked.

And wondering why a dude who is on the president's cabinet gets to take 6 months of "maternity leave" when he is not a mom and the cpuntry is in the middle of a crisis.

That was 90% of the mocking going on here.

More gay propaganda. "Gay men are like woman. They need maternity leave". You are so invested in trying to convince yourself homosexuality is on par with normal male/female relations that you don't even realize the term "maternity" can't apply to two guys by definition. Keep lying to yourself, but you can stop trying to get others to join your delusion.

Conservative gays are just as likely as liberal gays to lie to themselves and try to get others to join their delusion. Rationalize your behavior to yourself, but don't expect others to join your incoherent rationalization - "men need maternity leave".

It was our 10 year anniversary and first vacation in 5+ years...

But seriously, for women who have to travel for work, it can be a pain. My wife had a week long work trip to DFW a few months after we had our first and was having to pump in a van between their different engagements. You end up needing a lot of extra stuff like milk bags, sanitizing wipes, ice packs, a cooler, spare pump parts, etc. It also takes up a not insignificant part of your day setting up, pumping, and then breaking down and sanitizing. She came back with a ice chest full of frozen milk that took up most of the freezer for awhile. Luckily she didn't have many trips like that, but if you're in sales or implementation of a support role that requires you onsite out of town, it can really suck.

This is just weird and unnatural. No man (gay or not) should be "breastfeeding". It's insulting.

And I'll mock the SOB. It's not easy to breastfeed. It hurts until your nipples toughen up, you're tired, and sometimes the milk supply can't keep up with the kid's appetite. But it's a wonderful way to bond with your child. No freaking trans, gay, furry, or whatever man will take that away from real women.

With my first two they were almost exclusively breast fed but came with difficulties that almost made us go to formula.

However we went exclusively formula after about 6 weeks with our twins. Breast feeding multiples is incredibly rough. If you want sanity you feed them at the same time straight from source but that comes with its own set of challenges.

the most important thing is that baby is fed with the nutrients it needs (whether it be from breast milk or formula)

Btw baby brezza is a godsend. Two bottles filled, heated and ready to go in under 20 seconds

Bottle allows father to participate is not taking away from women/mothers. It's a bonding moment for fathers. And it certainly helps mom get a break or at least share the load (feeding two or multiples at the same time is quite the challenge)
