I'm guessing he (TC) is referencing Crichton's Gell-Mann Amnesia Effect.

Why would we so easily assume that the same press that is filling our screens with bullsh*t on a range of things from COVID to the state of the economy is all of a sudden on the money when it comes to the Ukraine?

Propoganda to support morale against an invading force =/= propoganda baselessly (worse than baseless, factually incorrect) justifying an invasion by calling a country with a Jewish president Nazis. The fact that you can't see the difference is... sad

Can you link the video that you and your fellow leftists are so upset about but can't seem to find? Because I'm skeptical he said what is being claimed. The entire segment would be nice to get the proper context.

And don't go calling anyone else "sad", when you've bought every bit of Covid propaganda hook, line, and sinker for 2+ years. I bet you also believed the "17 intelligence agencies say Trump colluded with Russia" conspiracy theory.

More often than not, "fact-checking" is actually gas lighting....especially from left biased sources.

Can you point out flaws in the methodology employed by the BBC in this instance so that I can understand what you're specifically referring to?

I wasn't being specific. I was speaking in general terms that we should all be skeptical of "fact-checking" with modern mainstream media.

I was specific on the "couple hundred thousand" refugees fleeing to Russia and Belarus. You claimed they were all forced and didn't choose sides. Do you have anything to support that assertion?

Of course ALL refugees are forced to flee innwar time. But a minority of Ukrainians are pro-Russia. Here is an article on refugees applying/fleeing to Russia a few years ago. Did all that sentiment disappear since then? What support do you have that the 200-300k refugees going to Russia would have rather gone West?

https://www.wilsoncenter.org/article/the-great-exodus-ukraines-refugees-flee-to-russia

I'll have to go back and pull it but I did investigate it previously and there is veracity to many deportations being forced. Won't be able to get to it till later.

As an alternative to BBC, here's Bellingcat also discussing Russia's claims re Bucha from an evidence based standpoint. So, a non-MSM entity.

Btw The Snake Island thing was mostly true and not propaganda.

This is what Trump and Trumpist do, compare outrageous claims with slightly minor mistakes and claim that nothing can be known.

Russia: Ukraine is committing the atrocities and staging them to get world support (outrageous lie)

Ukraine: The Snake Island Marines were killed defending Ukraine. (Mostly true, some died and some were captured but Ukraine didn't know it at the time and had no way to know.)

Trumpist: I can't believe anything.

I think the point is, though, is what is propaganda and what is real whichever side is issuing it?

Wanting the Ukraine to prevail and wondering how much of what they are telling the world is true are not mutually exclusive positions.

Hell….I want what the Ukes are telling me to be true. But they have plenty of reasons and motive to shovel misinformation. What is real and what is not?

That's nowhere close to being factual.
How so? Please explain.

Satellite imagery, surveillance imagery, intelligence, eyewitnesses, cell phones, imbedded reporters, etc.

Russian war crimes as well as war crimes by other entities from previous conflicts have been tried, with ample evidence, and been found guilty in legally conclusive fashion. It's like any other crime.
Sure if all of the technology is available and in use and there were eye witnesses or embedded reporters around. The NVA/VC, ARVN (South Viet Nam Army) and to some extent the Americans and their allies committed atrocities that were never reported.

There are lots of eyes these days, and in this case.
One thing I learned from being in the military and being in (now retired) law enforcement for 32 years is that if you didn't personally see the incident you really don't know what occurred you can only offer an after the fact educated guess.

Personally I believe, but do not know, the Russians did it but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Ukrainian soldiers or the Chechnya mercenaries that fight on both sides. I understand that they are ruthless in combat.

"Mostly true" besides the fact that they didn't all die in a heroic last stand. There were videos of Z using a green screen. Ukraine seems to have staged most of the media around the maternity ward that shelled.

Its funny, you can blame these mistakes on the fog of war, but the possibility that part of this story about the "atrocities" might be inaccurate due to the same fog of war makes you a "conspiracy theorist".

I don't know what actually happened, but I know that one of the only few "win" conditions for Ukraine is getting the West to join the war. With that motivation I am not surprised if the global establishment will try to lie us into ANOTHER FREAKING WAR.

If you were sincere, it would be fine.

All of you just believing everything you are spoonfed, from whatever side you believe in is pathetically stupid.

Question everything, including Tucker's motives, the NYTs motives, Biden's, Trump's, posters on this board, etc. only the fool simply believes.

Sincere stupidity isn't fine. You don't get to spout unfounded unevidenced conspiracy theory nonsense under the guise of "just asking questions". It's boorish behavior, all the more inappropriate given his position.

You want to spout off such a stupid assertion back it up with at least something.

This isn't simple questioning or skepticism, I can't believe you can't see that

Of course it isnt simple questioning. But the question should be asked. Any good investigator doesnt walk into something presuming anything. They ask questions. Even if what they see appears to be open and shut.

But what Tucker apparently did is what MSM, repubs and dems have been doing forever. It is bad behavior, yet people keep falling for it all the time. They dont question anything and instead just take their "side." I haven't seen you say "Yes that is a good question to ask: what really happened here." You could ask that and still point out that Tuckers motives are less than pure.

So no, i dont buy your sincerity any more than his.

I didn't present sincerity. I presented mocking sarcasm that I figured was bold enough for the blind to see.

The question shouldn't be asked free of any attempt to answer without any basis.

You can and should question the credibility of the reporting. And if it proves to lack credibility you should look into why and what motives.

Going straight not to a lack of credibility but a deliberate plot without an ounce of investigation into the source is inane.

I didn't say it's a good question to ask because it isn't. Again, there is a difference between skepticism and a "question" tantamount to mudslinging.

You would think someone at a news organization could ask the credibility question internally and get some idea of the answer prior to blabbing out his "question".

The question is vapid. I didn't look into whether he actually said it since it seems some here are of the peculiar mind that it's a good idea to say such things regardless.

By destroying ISIS? By getting 4 peace deals in the ME signed? By not having any wars he started? By starting the process of unwinding our total dependency on our biggest enemy (China)? By achieving the lowest UE figures for blacks in history? By shutting up fat boy in NK? By having to deal with two impeachments that have been proven to be manufactured witch hunts based on lies all the while doing everything before this question?

Now, look at what Biden has done in under two years. Compare and contrast like you learned in grade school. What do you find when you limit yourself to actual facts and outcomes?

I've never seen a condition completely warp reality like TDS. It's incredible. I hope someone studies this some day when we can get far enough away from it that objective reasoning becomes fashionable again.

Lmfao… & I'm not a real conservative

Thanks for contributing to create the current ****show

If you think the issues of the last year (I'm guessing you mean inflation?) are due solely to Biden, you need to better understand economics. That's been coming since Obama/the Fed easy money, (and before) , and through Trump's policy and both sides reaction to Covid (which was stupid, the lock down was stupid, which lead to stimi's and the most stupid of all the PPP loans).

Even if you think Trump created a hot economy all on his own, that in and of itself creates inflation eventually without rate increases.

I hope the R's take the Senate in the next election then nothing will get passed between 22-24 and that's fine with me.

Ukraine's best weapon so far has been international support resulting from vivid accounts of Russian brutality. Good for them, Russia and China are our enemy, so I hope they can ultimately fend them off.

I wouldn't be suprised if corpses were mutilated or bound by a Ukrainian unit. If that were to increase the Western response, it would be worth it....war time civilian cadavers.

If you had civilian casualties as a result of a Russian air assault or even collateral damage from Ukrainian fire, what is the harm in setting off a chlorine bomb in the area and accuse Russia of "chemical warfare"? Low cost, high reward. The fact checkers could then confirm traces of chemicals to confirm the story with absolute certainty. You probably wouldn't even need to pump Chem vapor in lungs of a body to get an "independent" doctor to provide medical records to the bbc.

How can voting for Biden not be considered doubling down on everything in that paragraph?

There is zero doubt this has happened. None. Civilians have probably been confused for Russian soldiers or wrongly accused of spying. Ukrainians have driven their cars over their own military's mines. Teenagers checking out an abandoned tank have been smoked by ATGMs.

It's war, it's hell.

For every single instance of that there have been a dozen artillery shells that have ripped into an apartment killing everyone inside in any of a dozen Ukrainian cities. That's just artillery.

Start talking about confused and scared 19 year old russian conscripts that thought they were going into training having the vehicle in front and behind them go up in flames with no notice cooking everyone inside day 1. The next morning a seemingly innoncent farmer pulls an assault rifle guns down another friend. The next afternoon a sniper smokes your commander. By day four, you shoot first and ask questions later at anything that you don't know its' frist name. Your PTSD is so thorough you haven't slept in days. Your comrades refuse to get in thei vehicle and decide they are walking home.

It's war, it's hell.

But sure, the Ukrainians (as if they needed more outrage from the West) staged it all.

He's always just "asking questions". That's his plausibly deniable code phrase for spewing conspiracy BS.

This, and he spews it because his audience eats it up. Look at the posts above… Conspiracy theory Trumpist support Russia, are upset that people aren't buying the BS, Tucker notices this and feeds it back to them and they lap it up.

Rather than you, who supports the "ghost of kiev" or the glorious sacrifice of the soldiers at "snake island".

Ukraine is pumping out propaganda. I'm not going to believe **** from either side.

Where did you see me support those?

Btw The Snake Island thing was mostly true and not propaganda.

This is what Trump and Trumpist do, compare outrageous claims with slightly minor mistakes and claim that nothing can be known.

Russia: Ukraine is committing the atrocities and staging them to get world support (outrageous lie)

Ukraine: The Snake Island Marines were killed defending Ukraine. (Mostly true, some died and some were captured but Ukraine didn't know it at the time and had no way to know.)

Trumpist: I can't believe anything.

Holy **** Trump broke you

Did you pull the lever for Biden directly or indirectly?

Not that it matters I'm just curious

I couldn't respond in the other thread where you took responsibility for being a Populist. I do commend you for admitting that.

2020 I voted for Biden directly as Trump was a greater danger to this country.

If the Republicans run a better candidate in 2024 I will vote R again as I traditionally have. (Didn't vote for Trump in 16 either).

Btw: Trump didn't break me, his supporters populism is what is incredulous.

How was Trump the greater danger?

Policy is not the issue, Trump had some good and some bad policy, whatever bad policy happens under Bidens watch can be reversed.

Trump is an enemy of democracy, that has been shown and that cannot be easily fixed.

Also Trump's populist appeal to the bassist instincts (especially racism) of certain segments of society as we can see cannot be easily reversed and not only harm society as a whole but also inflame the worse instincts of socialist as well. Trump is directly tied to the rise of AOC and BLM extremist.

If Rick Perry or Rubio, or any other vanilla R would have won 16 and had similar policies, then they would still be in office, and the R's would control both houses, and I doubt AOC would have won her election.

Forget about inflation, which definitely is at least 1/2 on Biden… You voted for a man that…

Promotes gender reassignment for kindergarteners

Gifted the taliban an air force & got Americans killed while doing it

Is giving terrorist iran money to create nukes

Removed all deterrents from southern border & is actively encouraging a southern invasion

Attacked our own energy independence & is actively shopping for oil from hostile countries

Attacked the working class w an unconstitutional vaccine mandate for a nothingburger hoax virus so that he could capitalize on vaccine sales….

& he did all this crazy **** in a year

Please explain how that is a "safer" choice than Trump

That's my point Trump did it, Biden wanted to do it. That's the double down, it didn't make a difference. Because of Obama, then Trump, then Biden (or Trump again) we would be in this situation (especially since Fed policy isn't controlled by either directly).

A recession is coming because of Trump/Biden easy money, rates will be risen, it doesn't matter who is in office, this is going to happen more than likely, or inflation will continue.
