$800 million data center for Facebook parent company Meta to open in Temple

TEMPLE, Texas Meta, the parent company of Facebook, will open a data center in Temple, the Temple Economic Development Corporation announced Thursday morning.

The $800 million Hyperscale Data Center will be 900,000 square feet. It will be located on 393 acres of NW H.K. Dodgen Loop and Industrial Blvd.

"We are thrilled to announce Meta's decision to open a facility in Temple," said Adrian Cannady, President and CEO of Temple Economic Development Corporation (Temple EDC). "Texas was recently named the top state in the nation for tech worker migration. When you combine that with Temple's low cost of doing business and central location between major markets, it creates an incredible competitive advantage for our region."
Maybe Ken Paxton will get some of the incentive $$$$ back with this: Texas AG Ken Paxton Sues Facebook for 'Billions' of Violations
Texas Taxpayers gave Facepuke a $1.4m handout in 2010.
All good to give them a great deal after they banned Trump while continuing to stomp on our values, right?

The company said the Temple Data Center will be supported by 100 percent renewable energy from right here in Texas, having already invested in more than 700MW of new wind and solar energy in the state. Link
Most Texans: Green energy is for liberal wieners!

Also Most Texans: (eyes closed hands over ears) When it is announced the new facility will be 100%% renewable energy supported because of jobs and stuff.

Tech companies get a nice tax break. Abbott gets a nice kick back. And Texas residents get higher property taxes.

A data center won't move mass population.

It also constitutes leftist idiots moving here and voting for the same garbage policies that Meta is seeking to escape. Insanity is repeating the same behavior and expecting different results. Their lobbyists will be far more detrimental to the average Texan than any tax revenue they generate will be beneficial.

They build here because of conservative tax policy and regulation. Then their idiot workers vote for leftist tax policy and regulations.

Fortunately, they're relatively fewer as the states' general conservatism repels many of them.

We stopped applauding Kalifornia tech companies moving to Texas 10 years ago. Even Abbott has stopped trumpeting these deals because native Texans have had enough.

There's a lot of counties that would argue that capital point. A LOT. Unless things have changed DRASTICALLY, I can think of 3 off the top of my head where the residents of those counties would laugh at that statement. But then again, I can see how it could get established there real easily.

However, having been in Bell County a LOT during my life (family basically from that area), meth may actually trigger an intellectual improvement for some.

That means that you have higher property values.

You don't think Texans are competent enough to manage a ****ing data center?

If we are so stupid that people from blue states have to come here to run technology that is placed here...then perhaps we need to revisit a lot of things.

The reason texas cities want these commercial developments is it takes a break off residential taxpayers. If this facility goes on the roll for $800,000,000, it generates (roughly) taxes equivalent to 2,285 $350,000 homes. Where homeowners get screwed is in communities with little or no commercial. Sure, these developments get some tax incentives, but they still pay a lot into the school/city/county coffers

Yeah just ask any resident of Austin or surrounding suburbs about how their property taxes are plunging thanks to big tech development.
