The guy has never had a job in his life. I guarantee he has no clue about capex, opex, revenue or earnings. If he did he would know if costs increase than prices will as well. Corporations have a fiduciary responsibility to maintain and grow margin.
Also, the part I did listen to, he was whining about the big oil company's patriotic duty to family and community. That dumb POS has no idea how involved all of these companies are in the community. It's part of their corporate policies. Effing idiot.
Patriotic duty? To a federal government that ****s all over them every chance it gets? To pay more in taxes because the government has no ability to control its own spending? Bullcrap. He's asking for blind loyalty, not patriotism.
Pretty rich eh?

Biden ran on ending oil and coal. Spent all of 2021 from his first day in office taking steps to make that happen.

Now the Dems are looking at the polls and seeing the ass beating they are going to take in November in part due to high gas prices, and they all of a sudden want the oil companies to 'be patriotic' and help out uncle Joe and the Dems in November.

This guy is a village idiot. I hope that the US citizens do not buy this crap. For example he even mentioned heat pumps as a renewable. NO, no, no. It is powered by electricity that comes from central station power plants. All this renewable crap is not sustainable , it is not efficient when the full supply chain is counted. Nuclear is the best bang for the buck. No comparison. Of course hydro is first. Natural gas is next then clean coal. Oh yes, coal can be clean. Coal however is better used as feed stock for other petroleum chemical plants .

Electric cars have their place but not worthwhile on long trips. They will not power a large vehicle on a cross country trip when charging time is considered at multiple stops. This administration is incompetent , reckless, and dishonest.

The Biden administration on Thursday formally announced President Biden will issue a directive invoking the Defense Production Act (DPA) to produce minerals used in electric vehicle batteries.

"The President will issue a directive, authorizing the use of the Defense Production Act to secure American production of critical materials to bolster our clean energy economy by reducing our reliance on China and other countries for the minerals and materials that will power our clean energy future," the White House said in a statement released Thursday morning, in conjunction with the announcement of a new release of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

"Specifically, the DPA will be authorized to support the production and processing of minerals and materials used for large capacity batteries such as lithium, nickel, cobalt, graphite, and manganese and the Department of Defense will implement this authority using strong environmental, labor, community, and tribal consultation standards," the White House said

Yeah Joe, "record profits" but at the same time these oil companies just don't feel like pumping out more oil.

Who believes this crap?

I presume this is a purposeful misdirection about how OPEC said they wouldn't increase production, and he's making it seem like domestic oil companies and entities said it.

Joey B. ... how much profit (aka taxes) did the Treasury take in on the sale of fuel?

Must be nice to get a large chunk of $s and not have to search for/drill/refine/transport/store those millions of gallons of natural resources

What's the profit margin on a gallon if gas?? Less than 1%? The federal gas tax is nearly 19 cents and they have no skin in the game. Who's greedy?
Another way to say this is the Government makes more off of the sale of gas than all companies that sell gas, combined!

Biden blames COVID AND Putin for soaring gas prices, admits it's 'hard to tell' when they will go down and says Americans will save $80 a month if they buy an electric car as he unveils plan to reduce pain at the pumps

  • President Biden announced the release of 180 million barrels of oil over six month from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve later on Thursday
  • He said record high gas prices had two roots: the pandemic and Putin's war
  • He will also ask Congress to impose fees on oil and gas companies that lease federal land but are not using permits to produce energy
  • And he will use the Defense Production Act to accelerate switch to electric cars
  • The White House has been desperately looking at ways to lower fuel prices
  • Oil prices have surged since President Putin invaded Ukraine
  • It would be the largest release in the near 50-year history of the SPR

Nope, not even close. And if we did, no way the progressives would agree on how it has to be mined. This is a complete bait and switch at the highest level.

Maybe 7 years battery life but it degrades overtime so the last 50% of its life is less range. This is what I have lectured about for years that the entire life cycle and replacement cost is being ignored by the green woke group. Just pure incompetence and dishonesty. The head of the DOE has no ability to even interpret business cycle cost of the green push. It will only have a cosmetic effect on the long run.

Ironic that Biden is now threatening companies to drill or pay fines. So, he wants drilling? Kidding, but the "lose it" part of the "use it or lose it" on the leases is actually fairly clever. He is going to make it so costly for companies to hold their leases that they give up the leases - therefore reduce leases of federal lands. Ultimately, the goal to elimate all access to drill on federal lands.

I believe that one of Bidens first weeks E.O.s forbid mining of Lithium and other rare earth minerals in the USA. So not sure how they do this unless they withdraw the EO.

Also, how does the DPA get used in this case ? ? Does the Govt force mining companies to acquire land and build mines ? ? ? II just do not see this happening.

I used to do work in New Mexico on the western edge of Permian Basin. Most of the property is either State or Federal lands and leases. What revived the lands was the ability to Frac and therefore produce oil and gas from multiple shale formations and it is what makes those minerals highly valuable.
Take away Fraccing and the value and royalties are greatly reduced. It also affects the state lands by increasing the cost and decreasing the pipeline availability for gas production. The oil and gas revenues to the state are (were) over 50% of the New Mexico education budget.

It's all about claiming companies aren't using still available leases from
Before while ignoring that those leases weren't in development for a reason: they simply weren't profitable enough to be worth the effort

the previous governor was very o&g friendly and built a nice little nest egg. The current governor took all that money and did eff all with it. But its somehow the oil companies fault that their surplus was wasted

Washington is so full of incompetent bureaucrats that have never had a competitive job in their life. We have created an aristocracy in the 100 mile radius of DC. They are offsprings of the elected reps and senators and appointees who left regular America generations ago. They use public transportation that we pay for and subsidize. Their pay is always guaranteed every year. They have a special health care plan that is rich as well as government pension plan outside of SS. The local zip codes show that the residents are the highest consumers of wine in the world. That is what is happening to America.

I could go and and on. The only answer is term limits which will not likely happen so America is screwed forever. We are weak and will pay the price with more dictators around the world.
