It's mind blowing that people are still driving that fast in zero visibility weather.

Seeing that one guy just standing by his car I thought for sure he was going to get nailed. Just GTFO.

Geez...that's awful. But man, how dumb do you have to be to just be standing around filming or hanging out by the cars like a few of those people were? Darwin award material there. One dude just standing around next to the car is luckily he wasn't pulverized.
I am always wrong

The dude milling around outside his car at 00:41 is lucky he isn't paste on the pavement.

Were drivers better decades ago or am I just fantasizing?

We moved to Hawaii in 2000, where everything is much slower, and California in 2017 where, I must admit, after living on an island I had some anxiety about everyone going 80+ miles per hour and drafting one another, with other cars weaving in and out if you leave the slightest room between yourself and the car in front of you.

And for the record I grew up in Reno, finished high school in Pennsylvania (I drove in the snow) and drove some 140 miles a day when we were living in Houston before heading out to the Pacific.

Edit for autocorrects.

So it's not just me.

I didn't know if my memory was failing, I was looking back with nostalgia or both.

I drove those Pennsylvania highways in bad conditions and feel like people were more cautious and considerate.

He didn't take action because of the danger. After his car got hit he said "I need to get all my stuff out of my car but it's too dangerous".

I don't think he was being stupid, just scared.

The guy standing right by his car was the dummy.

Defensive driving was a much bigger thing in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Courses everywhere. I know employees who drove company tricks or cars were often required to take them.

Still doesn't compare to the I-35 ice storm pile up
The story isn't that [DeSantis] "couldn't win" the primary. The story is that an overwhelming majority of our population is heinously stupid. 50% of them vote for communists. 75% of the remaining 50% vote for Trump, who cant win. When the majority of the opposition party insists on voting for an opposition candidate who can't win, you get exactly the government you deserve. - Well Endowed Ag

The 18 wheelers slamming into each other is insane. Someone who earns a living by driving should know to slow down or, better yet, get off the road until you can see what's ahead of you.

Also, incredible that after you could no longer see vehicles slamming into each other, you could hear it even as the video ended.

People just need to slow down and reduce distractions. I've often wondered why so many feel the need to weave in traffic, are they late for something? Or people just like to drive fast, it doesn't seem like a teen thing either.

I still think he was being stupid standing that close to the highway filming everything. He seems to finally realize it towards the end of that video.

No clue, but we saw two cars on I-10 in Houston almost collide (both driving fast and weaving) last night and then one of the cars started rubbernecking the other and a chase ensued before they were long gone. Wife and I both commented that we both seem to notice an increase in erratic road rage driving since the start of Covid. I am sure more people in general are p*ssed off, on edge, or undergoing mental stress. There certainly has seemed to be an increase in Houston in road rage shootings over the past two years.

It's because there was 0% enforcement of traffic laws during the past two years. No patrols, no speed traps, no inspection sticker of license plate enforcement. I don't know if it was to conserve police resources, to limit interactions/possible infections of officers, or to limit interactions/racial claims post-Floyd.

It's slowly coming back in select locations around town (i.e.- memorial villages) but for the most part, it's still the Wild West on the major freeways. You'll get run over from behind if you're only going 10mph over posted on 290.

It's crazy. And without fail, it's almost always a sedan with paper plates driving like they have a death wish. That's as far as I will elaborate on here.

Drivers were much better and cars didn't go as fast. At least, they didn't go as fast as smoothly as they do now.

I used to own a Nissan Maxima. You could drive that thing at 110 without really knowing you were at 110. My first car, a mid-70s Impala, I had it up to 120 once for only a few seconds. It could do it -- it could go faster but was as unstable as heck. I got down way below 100 as fast as I could. Now, driving 90 in almost any SUV or pickup is easy. 30 years ago? Anything over 60 required a lot of driving attention.

I can drive 110 without causing an accident. But in the stuff in the video, I'd be at about 40 tops. Most people don't drive like I do.

This.
His comments made me sick.
His lack of action made me sick.

#1 Do something to signal/slow oncoming traffic. It may not work, but you try.
#2 Try to get people out of cars and to safety.

Just do something.

I know every generation thinks the next one is going to hell, but this TikTok generation is truly a bunch of betas.

He was surprised his car got hit when he parked it near an interstate in 0 visibility weather.

No way he is smart enough to realize that cars that are involved in motor vehicle accidents on interstates normally have drivers
