If true, Russia is playing with fire or only had a short term goal in mind (e.g., Ukraine). I don't think the renewable energy crowd is reversing course at this point so European demand for Russian oil and gas is likely on a permanent decline. And unfortunately for Putin, it seems Europe is content (for now) to pay exorbitant energy prices in exchange for crippling Russia's economy.
