She hears a man talking about about a "sex act" and she asks her father what it means. Her father asks her to reach up and remove his traveling bag from the overhead storage. This is perverse, and Blue is 100% right. Probably 99% of us 'mos are against this kind of activity with kids. The blame for this--as most of our current ills--can be laid at the feet of suburban women. By and large, they embrace victim culture around their kids rather than encouraging toughness and self-reliance a la Spartan women. And, for the most part, their semi-emasculated husbands--who are most definitely NOT the heads of the family--allow this and/or go along.

If you want data points, go back and study the reactions of most suburban moms and dads post-George Floyd. There were significant numbers--maybe even majorities--agreeing with the "systemic racism" assertions.

The bill is anti-LGBTQ. No rational person thinks PreK-3 kids should be "taught" about sexuality or gender identity, BUT if it comes up because a kid has a gay parent(s) or something similar it shouldn't be a subject the teacher has to shush a kid like it's a dirty secret. The language for 4th grade and above is too ambiguous.

You and I both know a teacher won't even want the appearance of being in violation of this bill whether it's the younger kids in grades stipulated in bill or older kids where the language is vague and unclear. It's entire purpose is to create targets for Karen's and Ken's to protest at school board meetings and sue in courts.

Well good news, there are no LGBT people in Florida schools anymore. The bill made it clear (through vague/unclear language) that's not allowed. I'm sure teens who may have turned to a trusted teacher, who now is no longer comfortable engaging with a student in any LGBT topic, will get fantastic support from their evangelical parents who supported this legislation.

What part is dishonest? You think this bill will encourage any sort of dialogue on LGBT topics in FL schools? That's naive.

Evangelicals almost universally push these points of view and you know that too. If you're ok with it and have a gold medal in mental gymnastics as a gay man that's great, but I'm not.

I'd like to believe this isn't true as the bill is really about PK-3. And I would hope a teacher doesn't turn away a struggling student. To my knowledge, they wouldn't be sued for supporting a student one-on-one. But I haven't read the bill in its entirety. I'm just choosing to sift through the rhetoric on both sides and focus on what I actually see in the language of the bill.

It's not about the LGBT community, it's about the desire for people to WANT to be weird / different. When you normalize something, there will always be a fringe group of people who still want to be weird. I have been calling this pedophilia travesty for some time now.

Example

Normalize Gay Marriage (this is not offense to anyone, your choices are just that, yours, but it is a mental disorder) -> Normalize being transgender (again mental illness) -> "gender dysphoria" / the very thought of transitioning a child (mental illness / criminal) -> Normalize pedophilia - Normalize beastiality

Fairly certain that was the point that was trying to be made. Anyone in any group that is looking at things objectively can see this exact trajectory
