This is a dissenting opinion that I also dissent with. But I respect the General's take on this too.

But I also agree with the General that there is SO MUCH DELIBERATE LYING coming from Ukraine...... and for that matter Russia too.

Wars have always involved lots and lots of false propaganda. In the internet age..... it's easier to debunk.

Colonel not general.

He kept saying that Zelensky is merely a puppet, but never stated who is controlling Zelensky. Did he say that earlier in the interview?

MacGregor has been parroting Russian talking points for several weeks now.

Just because you once served doesn't mean you can't be bought.

Just because Ukraine is wrong doesn't make Russia right, or vice versa.

It goes back longer than that He's been spouting Russian propaganda for years. It's good that there are dissenting voices out there, but don't be naive and think that all of them are acting in good faith. Russia doesn't limit its propaganda efforts to cyber trolls

Ok, but we're in NATO. He uses the term puppet as a derogatory. I do not understand his line of reason.

Only the ones saying what I think are acting in good faith.

Yeah, let's let Ukraine decide what Ukraine wants.

It's clear they are fighting back. Russia has no right to claim a single foot of ukraine.

Macgregor is saying that NATO is talking Zelensky into taking a stand against Putin or in essence fighting a war for NATO. Macgregor thinks the best thing for Ukraine is to be more pro Russian to avoid the slaughter of Ukrainian.

Not saying I agree, but that's what he's saying.

He's not saying pro Russian. He's saying be neutral vs anti Russian

Wonder if MacGregor's net worth has taken a big hit recently or if he was smart enough to negotiate his contract so that the Russians would pay him in dollars and not rubles.

He has been a favorite of RT since 2014. He was pro Rusdia during the Donbas crisis and pro Serbian during Kosovo.
Seven and three are ten, not only now, but forever. There has never been a time when seven and three were not ten, nor will there ever be a time when they are not ten. Therefore, I have said that the truth of number is incorruptible and common to all who think. — St. Augustine

The problem is that neutral is over. IF the Ukes were to surrender, Putin would have no mercy. He would go full KGB: execute general and field grade officers at a minimum, execute all pro independence politicians, execute all journalists who never criticized Putin or Russia, execute higher up bureaucrats, execute educators who have not been entirely pro Russia. Elections would probably go away.

Putin would never again risk a pro-Russia leader being ousted, even if it meant "re-educating " half the adult population.

That colonel is a fool for not recognizing that. May have been a leader of men, but he misses the bigger picture.

Yep. It alao doesnt mean you have superior knowledge of any given subject as well.

Plenty of mid grade and flag officers are fairly dumb when it comes to a whole lot of subjects, even ones specific to the .mil.

Hell, look at Salute the Marines as an example.

"Ukraine should be neutral ". Easy to say if you're not Ukraine. Ukraine doesn't want to be neutral. They wanted protection and they wanted protection from Russia.

Russia said they wanted a political change in Ukraine. The idea of having a pro-Russian leadership in ukraine, without having the headache of managing ukraine is the best solution for russia.

Iirc the leader of Ukraine from 2014, before the US backed coup, currently resides in Russia. A ukrainian leading ukrain is ideal.

Unlike an oligarch leading an actor to lead ukraine.

I saw him on another show where he favored Russia taking over Ukraine. Kept saying that Russia does not want NATO that close. Reporter asked him if they took Ukraine, would Poland be next. He never answered.

Russia taking ukraine is rational.

Asking him to speculate about Poland is just shtt stirring.

The great thing is they are at least presenting dissenting views. That is what news opinion used to be. Don't agree with him but I picked up on his string Russian leaning the first time I heard him.

This is what has amazed me about this whole thing. Lots of hot takes that Russia or the US getting to decide what Ukraine does, but strikingly few recognizing that Ukraine, as a sovereign nation, has the right to determine the path it would like to pursue for itself, and it is not the place for either Russia or the US to make it for them.

No alleged promises or agreements made by other countries are binding on Ukraine (never mind that there is one way in which the US makes "promises", and that is by treaty; anything else is ephemeral and is subject to evaporation the minute a new administration is inaugurated).

No, it's not. Taking Ukraine moves Russian troops even closer to NATO. Restoring the borders of the Soviet Union or Imperial Russia has nothing to do with logic.

those were interesting comments from Macgregor.

one thing he is right about...the civilians in the Eastern cities are being sacrificed.

Ukraine knows what happened to Grozny. Don't let that happen to the cities in the East

Or really for the US. Meaning the Democrats. Zelensky and Trump didn't really flirt along.

Is this guy a conservative or a lib?

But, a neutral Ukraine really is the best thing for both US and RU interests. If that is the only thing that matters to you, both US and RU interests, and you don't give a F about the people of Ukraine, of course you want Uke to surrender.

If you value the concepts of Freedom and Liberty more, it's hard not cheering for Uke.
