Not sure why anyone thought Abbott would be pushed to a runoff. He may have been vulnerable after the winter storm fall out, but West and Huffines were not serious challenges.

Looks like Brazos County just can't bring itself to vote out an incumbent. Going to send the two same old, tired dudes back to the Texas House for another term.
He got kind of crazy over the last year or two. He wasn't quite Guiliani or Lin Wood but he was up there. Didn't shock to me to see him run and him thinking he had a chance. Odds were way worse than 50/50. The other two challengers were out front in time campaigning and material distribution. I was getting Guzman flyers several months ago.Seven Costanza said:

With cynicism in full gear, once they get 6 years in elected office, they get a lifetime pension. I love Ghomert, but not every one up there stays for the power.

Almost nothing changed since the last update. Either reporting has slowed big time, or all of the results coming in are barely changing the %%% each time.
Pension, plus whatever juicy book deals, consulting fees, speech fees, and corporate board gigs they get after office. Paid for, of course, by the same people who lobbied for influence while they were in office.

I'm perfectly fine raising the sales tax or make a consumption tax so long that it isn't VAT. there are viable solutions out there.
