Congress can do something, but you need more than 50 to get it done and the potato is the problem. Not the Republican Senators
When I'm ice t people are being killed I think the least our elected politicians can do is camp on the floor until it's stopped. If the democrats want that to go until the mid terms than so be it. Right now our guys are making it really easy on them with all their speeches to the news. That is not leadership, it's pandering to your base.
What does camping on the senate floor do? I'm curious as to what you think will happen if they start doing that?
At least out 'pandering' they're able to tell us what the liberals are blocking and what they're trying to do. If they're on the senate floor just talking amongst each other, nothing will be accomplished. The pressure will come from the moral outrage by getting information to the people to apply the pressure on the liberal hold outs

For one it brings national attention to the fact that the potato is still buying Russian oil. Much more so than an interview on Fox.
If the republicans do this they will have democrats join them. Plenty of demorats will join I am positive. This will pressure Pelosi.

If there were plenty of democrats that would join, they'd have a veto proof sanction package. Don't you think they'd already do that if plenty of them would join? You've got maybe 3 or 4 democrats willing to put that in front of Biden. Where are the other 14 votes coming from?

I don't get all this crap on Russian oil purchases. Yes, it was 595 MBO per day in November 2021. February 2022 it was 89 MBOPD. Refiners are just trying to maximizing their blends. Although we are now a net importer of crude, we export 500-600 MBOPD more of refined products than barrels of crude we import.
It makes no sense why Biden allows the purchase of Russian and Iranian oil. We can buy it elsewhere. That's my point. Scream it from the rooftops and especially on the floor until America wakes up.

This, Cruz has been pressuring sanctions since Nordstream 2 sanctions were lifted by Biden. Democrats took it to the point of forcing a filibuster vote. Biden finally listened yesterday. Now theyre pressuring to stop all oil imports from Russia and open drilling back up and remove the federal gas tax. People need to follow their elected reps closer.

Russian war effort is dependent on money. They get money from selling oil. $40 oil is better than $100 oil in order for them to not have money. No customers is even better.

Roughly 13% of the worlds oil currently comes from Russia.

The absolute low point for me was when our entire government from local to federal stood down to let the steal happen. Everything that's happened since then is a consequence of that.
