You're not administrative errors… you can't just start threads about bitcoin around here

Not unusual for all crypto to drop when the stock market is tanking. People are selling to protect their profits.

The dramatic irony of a freedom loving "Texas Rebel" enjoying a dip in fiat price of freedom money is not lost on this poster.

I know most of the conservatives on this board like to mock bitcoin, but this "inside the system" thinking is not without risk as authoritarianism is on the rise.

I personally get excited a drops in bitcoin price because i can still afford to buy more of the hardest money ever invented with my melting inflationary fiat.

Guys, get with the game. If you're a conservative you ABSOLUTELY should be learning about and acquiring bitcoin.

Why start this thread? Honestly?

This is no different than the AggieHawg thread of a couple weeks ago.

There is systemic animosity against bitcoin on this forum.

Kinetic Energy is not a store of value. If you think the countervailing force coming to take your assets in the future will come with lead, power, and brass.......good luck.

This always makes me laugh. The only rebuttal you guys ever have is to assume people who don't fully trust the long term trajectory of Bitcoin are in love with the US dollar.

One can both see the writing on the wall for the soon to be defunct dollar AND believe that Bitcoin will fail in trying to be anything more than a speculative investment.

Don't understand the response. Food is not only acquired by means of guns. I can fish and farm for food. These are not stores of value

Okay......so you are saying potential energy is a store or value? Batteries? Almonds? Rubber bands......all have potential energy.

Please be specific.......what is a store of value?

How, exactly, does bitcoin work with spotty electricity and severed networks?

I genuinely would like an answer.
TexasRebel

Well, a big one is oil.

Water is one folks forget sometimes.

Heck, if you want to use rubber bands, someone/something had to exert energy on it to stretch it. Put enough of them in the mix and that's not trivial.

Potential energy represents the ability to accomplish something in the future.

Why not both? And gold and silver and land?

No...you are trolling. If you truly cared, you would not come to Texags to be educated by starting a thread with a title Bitcoin and a .gif. A truly curious person would read The Bullish Case for Bitcoin or one of the many books many of us did to educate ourselves.

So please tell us what a store of value is?

In the case of network segmentation for any period of time, when full global network connectivity is restored then the blockchain with the most amount of work done to validate it will be accepted by all bitcoin nodes as the official ledger and life will resume.

What else would you like to know?
TexasRebel

Both?

Precious metals & land are good, too. It partially depends on the need for their properties.

Gold can't be faked so it's a great currency.
Silver is similar, but tarnishes and is more common.
Some land is worthless. Some is priceless.

Oil volatility is worse than BTC. The damn spot price went to a -$30/bbl in April 2020 and stayed negative for a few days.

Water is a store of value? 70% of the planet is covered with it

The fact you took my satirical comment of rubber bands and try to use it as a real example is just........bad.

Please give us what a store of value is?

Bitcoin is even more verifiable than gold. It's more easily divisible. Its infinitely easier and safer and faster and cheaper to transport globally. It's also currently legal tender in one country and counting.

Bitcoin isn't an investment. It's a medium of exchange. Its large fluctuations in value are due to its limited current acceptance and speculation.

It has many features that are superior to other mediums of exchange. When the US Dollar collapse, I think there is a good possibility that it can replace the dollar.

Essentially yes. Don't accept bitcoin for payment if you're in a small severed network else you will lose those coins when you reconnect to the broader internet.
