alito and thomas said they believed they had to grant the bill to review the case, but said nothing about standing. those are not the same thing. standing in that case " a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another State conducts its elections"

they also said they would not grant the emergency relief sought, meaning the case would not have been heard on an expedited basis. they may not even have gotten to it yet.

You misunderstand me. I'm not saying Alito and Thomas would necessarily have been votes to grant standing, after all, you yourself point out that they "said nothing about standing." But really, that's beside the point. My real point is that the case was not as cut and dried as people like to think now that we know what the court did with it, and that, whatever you ultimately think of the merits of the suit, it was in a huge grey area at the time it was filed, and by no means a guaranteed failure as so many Paxton detractors like to say after the fact. Remember guys, hindsight is 20/20.

I like Paxton. He has pissed off enough people that he must be doing something right. The whomp eye helps too.

I guess she could have responded with "not be indicted" and "not have my staff report me for unethical behavior and violating the law"...

This is well said. She's easily the most qualified candidate in the race, and it's not particularly close. Unfortunately, she may not have a chance against the crowd who only cares about owning the libs and being loyal to Trump, but she is hands down the best lawyer in the bunch.
