In normal times markets would adjust between now and 2026 to either create more supply or temper demand through higher prices. Clearly these aren't normal times.

Seriously. It's like ammo. My understanding is extremely limited but I can't help but wonder why tf havent more players entered the industry after about a decade of massive shortage?jagvocate said:

Do you know a way to get that built and producing in under 5 years? Because people already in the industry don't know.
Understand, but rather tax credits to this than Electric cars. Maybe the U.S. could remove the EV subsidy and apply to chips. I know not until hell freezes over, doomed to fund both.TxTarpon said:

Samsung building a plant in Ohio as well. So, to earlier posts supply is being ramped up as an outcome of this shortage so that's good.richardag said:

Hope these are still planned
Intel is spending $20 billion to build two new chip plants in Arizona
Samsung plans to build a $17 billion chip plant in Texas
South Korean Chip Maker Planning New Factory in Michigan
Maybe a little late but small rays of hope.
EV subsidization and promotion needs to be banned as a national security risk until we can source materials not owned by China who currently has a monopoly on battery tech raw materials. And there is really no end in sight for that.richardag said:Understand, but rather tax credits to this than Electric cars. Maybe the U.S. could remove the EV subsidy and apply to chips. Anyone want to form a silicone cartel and buy up remaining production through 2030, holding it hostage to the highest bidders?MouthBQ98 said:

Hire browns to build it, with a 24/7 schedule and timeline bonuses for early and inspected completion. "People already in the industry" don't do that sort of thing, because, reasons.

I hope this is a joke, because this is a great way to pay top dollar for a building to sit empty for 4 years waiting for the high tech fab machines to arrive. So, actually, horrible construction practice.
