We used to be good friends. She went hard core. She literally did not leave her house more than 6 times in the last 2 years. Was all about masks and vaccines on her FB. Her husband was not nearly as hardcore but he enabled her. Then after everything she gets Covid a couple weeks ago, is over it in a few days. Her husband or son likely gave it to her.

I just can't imagine how it has to feel knowing you just burned 2 years of your life trying to avoid Covid and preaching to the sky that it was going to kill us all and then you get it and it's a cold. Otherwise a very intelligent and nice person.

I'm in a similar boat with one of my very close friends. We are very loyal to each other but she will only meet up outside. Luckily I prefer the outdoors, but I feel like a hobo drinking in a park with her sometimes.

Fear on an OCD level is my guess. Gripping paralyzing irrational fear. Prob started watching the daily Trump/Fauci pressers like most people did for a week or two and then never stopped soaking everything in from CNN or MSNBC for two years. I bet stress has either taken years off her life or pushed her a significant degree closer to insanity.

I really would like to see a person like this get interviewed though for sure.

Most covidians that get infected usually do so after volunteering at a homeless shelter or soup kitchen. And once they get COVID, they NEVER ever spread it to anyone else.

Trust me, she fully believes and will post that thanks to the vaccine her illness was less severe. This is how the mentalvidians reconcile things.

This was my sister. She didn't leave her house for 1 1/2 years until "vaccines" were available. My mom would enable her by saying "She does it because she couldn't imagine if something were to happen to her son." There's nothing wrong with my little nephew. He's a regular, strong as an ox four years old. Mama's boy thanks to his mom, but healthy. Well guess what, her and her husband get their shots, immediately put the kid back in daycare and he catches it within a month. He had a cough…that's it. Then she comes to the family Christmas party and catches it and feels like crap for a day then is fine.

It was all due to the miracle of the "vaccines" though that they survived.

I've also had covid twice and don't have the shots. I almost think they wanted me to get really sick. I sent them a picture of me and the deer I killed about five days after covid and all she could respond back with was "Probably not the smartest thing to be out deer hunting while you're sick with covid." You're right. Sitting in a stand by myself while spending the weekend by myself is definitely a danger to public safety. These people are deranged. They'll never admit the bought in hook, line and sinker.

i have Omicron now after getting Delta in Florida this summer.

i had some chills last night and have a runny nose. THATS IT. THATS the symptom

as Matt Walsh pointed out, people like the OP references have completely failed on a grand scale at the most basic job of putting your children before yourself.

they aren't scared for their children, they're scared for themselves. over the last 3 years hundreds of thousands of parents have ruined the lives and mental health of their children for the sniffles. no matter if they admit it or not they know it's the case. Look at Bari Weiss' comments from this weekend.

I explained it to my seven year old today like this:

Imagine you are looking at the color blue and someone tells you over and over and over again that it's red.

Some people will eventually agree and say it's red. But we won't. We know the truth is that it is blue.

Fight this nonsense.

My sister as well.

One of her kids has tested on the range and he has REALLY struggled developmentally last couple of years. He is literally locked in the house and has been for nearly two years.

I generally don't care where people stand on these decisions. As long as they acknowledge the possible damage that also stems from these decisions. The denial is incredible to watch.

I am sorry to hear this. This nonsense is going to screw up kids for years.

I am having to explain why air travel is a pain to a 2nd grader that doesn't have any kind of diagnoses.

Public health officials have it all figured out though

I have flown more In the last 2 years than I have my entire life… I don't wear a mask u less im on the plane, if I have had covid it wasn't very bad.. tested once for antibodies and had them .. Dr gave me ivermectin and hcq.. I didn't take it because I didn't need it (maybe took 1 dose and stopped)

These people have gone crazy over a weak disease and fake death reports … ruining their kids lives, I know someone who tricked her 3 kids into getting the vaccine… they are age 6 to 12 … dumb is all I can think, she promised them things for Christmas if they would take the shots

In fairness, it is disingenuous to characterize the prior variants of Covid with omicron, which is clearly less dangerous and more mild.

That said, the inability to reevaluate your opinions given new data is really problematic. Unless you are in a very high risk demo, it should be clear that the risks from Covid have decreased dramatically over time, and your behavior can change accordingly.

Unfortunately there is a pattern of behavior on both sides of this issue that for whatever reason has caused people to retrench as new data is available rather than calmly evaluate the data. Each side would seemingly rather "win" and rub the other side's nose in it than behave rationally.

Wrong on every count.

1. The original variants were never "dangerous ". See latest from CDC regarding comorbidities.

2. Only the left disregards the data. There is no data to support doing anything other than, take care of yourself like you always do.

There almost seems to be a change in people who take the vaccine. For instance, a friend of my wife's was against the vaccine but took it to be able to see her dying father. Now that she has COVID, which turned out to be a pretty bad case, she's certain that the vaccine made it better. Forget the fact that all the unvaxxed people I know have had mild cases this go around.

Sounds like my sister in law. She and my BIL both work in elementary schools and they have two small kids, five and one. Other than school and work (which are all Petri dishes), they haven't been anywhere for two years. The worst part is that she won't let her parents come around their boys if they had been around us (we have two girls the same age as her boys) within two weeks.

She depends on her mom for help with her boys (why?? She is always home), so my girls didn't see their grandparents but a few times over the last two years. They live an hour away.

They all got Covid last week. not even as bad as the flu. She was crying to my husband that they hid (my word) in their house for two years and caught it anyway (no ****).

People are overwhelmingly dumb.

So the side that keeps getting proven right over and over again is supposed to reevaluate their position every time they are proven right?

F that. After two years of nonstop gaslighting you better believe I'm more dug in on my position than ever before. Some of us figured out the truth before the data was available. Others now have the data and still can't figure out the truth.

This. My opinion hasn't changed since March, 2020 when I said we're all going to get it and nobody is going to die. The raw numbers were scary but as percentage they weren't worth the economic and psychological damage we've created and we knew that going in.

The logic doesn't really hold, regardless of the severity of the illness in question. The overwhelming majority of Americans survive cancer, heart attacks and strokes. About 12% of heart attacks are fatal, but only about 2% of first heart attacks kill people. There are age/risk factor populations with a much higher mortality than 2% from covid. Granted, the individual in question in the OP does not sound like one of them and her behavior is extreme to the point where I'd call it pathological. Very few diseases could ever possibly justify what is described.

My point though is that your outcome if you get a disease/illness and your fear or that illness/desire to avoid it are largely unlinked. I wear sunscreen to prevent skin cancer, even though I know if I get skin cancer I have an exceedingly small chance of dying from it. I don't live my life in dread I've ether prospect but do take reasonable steps to mitigate my chances of getting it or getting it severely. There's a reasonable degree of concern to be had.

Keeping a kid on the spectrum locked up in a house is the worst thing you can do for them. Without invention those kids don't really recover from that.

I compare my son now to how he was during lockdowns and it's night and day.
