no Christmas, year 2 in and finally acquired the wuflu Christmas Eve. So no arguments other than everyone has rallied for an off the hook New year day party!

At my Sister in laws in-laws house there was an argument about a rabbit that had been gifted to my niece.

The grandmother was upset bc the rabbit was given a boy name instead of a gender neural name ... my niece is 10 and now knows about gender identity. Great!?!?

If people don't like facts than I can't help them. Luckily the girlfriends family is on my side, my ex...ehh not so much

Next year I'd just rather do like the Kranks and go on a cruise for Christmas with the wife & kids

We had a Christmas Eve Dinner and a Christmas Dinner and the topic never came up at any of them. The Christmas Eve Dinner was by far the larger because of various relatives celebrating Christmas at their in-laws.

That said, at least one person at the Christmas Eve Dinner now has covid and another is sick, but untested. I don't know yet if any more are ill.

I can't keep my mouth shut. I have to ask questions and try to get people to logically explain their positions. It's caused fights in the past for sure. I'm no peace keeper. Also, if I can figure out where a family member stands and they are idiots, I learn to not depend on them or trust them. In some regards it's self preservation.

To really ruffle feathers, I've never bought in to the "Family above all else" mantra.

Mixed family north of Burlington Vt. Never really came up. Turns out everyone there (mostly) is of a libertarian bent so anything that did was pretty much agreed upon.

Three day drive from Boerne to w/in 20 miles of the Canadian border. There and back. Texas/Ark/Tenn/Ky/Ohio/Penn/Ny/VT.

My take is that on the ground 95% of the country has moved on. Very few masks anywhere, including NY and Vt. To be fair we didn't stop in Burlington, where they've reupped their mandate in Dec. One middle-of- nowhere convenience store in upstate NY asked "Sir, do you have a mask?" and, whilst running to el bano, I said, "no, but I got to get in there." They said nothing on my way out. Thruway rest stops had signs up, but no one said anything. Couple of places still had signs up, but even those employees weren't wearing. Have seen more masks in Boerne than we did in Ohio/Tenn/Ky/Ark

It was pretty refreshing overall, really.

Fortunately I only have one tard in the family and I stayed far away from her.

I wasn't invited, so the conversation was pretty limited.

On the subject, CoVID has invaded my home, finally. Anyone know a telecom that does ivermectin? Would rather have the option of jumping on top of it and reducing the duration of symptoms. So far I am basically asymptomatic but the wife has a mild fever and feels tired.

Also, for the record, both fully vaxxed with Moderna.

I was invited to the annual Family Christmas Gathering/Dinner. It was cancelled last year.

After I accepted my cousin sent an email saying she expected everyone to be vaxed "in order for everyone to be safe". I waited about 3 days then sent an email saying that my plans had changed and maybe next year.

From what I can tell a lot of my ultra Lib cousins decided not to even take the chance of mingling with others. Smallest crowd ever.

The last couple of years has done a huge amount of damage to families throughout the country.

Re: covid arguments for any relatives that have kids:

1. ask them what kind of family car they drive (if they don't have a family car, proceed to step 3)
2. look it up in this database: https://www.nhtsa.gov/
3. if it's less than 5-stars across the board, explain to them how important car safety is and shame them for not loving their kids more

Taste isn't so good, but so what.

Nothing in my family, but my brother in law has a brother and sister who are full on coronabro. Brother and sister have shunned my brother in law whose family is unvaxxed from all family gatherings, therefore he has to get together with his mom and dad on a different day every time a holiday comes around . Of course, this Christmas gathering that he was banned from last week required all attendees to be tested. The dad tested positive on the 23rd. Absolutely no symptoms. Rechecked it 2 more times and all were positive so christmas with corona crazy brother and sister had to be cancelled. My brother in law got to invite his mom and dad over and they had a nice chistmas together. He didn't care that he was positive, dad felt fine and there were no symptoms.

I got no problem with it if I get symptoms but I'll spend a bit more to get the wife the human pill version.
