The Regeneron I know for certain is being restricted based on federal allocation. The FDA declared the drug as "lacking potency" against the Omnicron (although it STILL maintains some efficacy, it is just not to the level as that seen in Alpha, Delta....).

It is curious timing as within 2 days of receiving this notice from our federal overlords we begain getting reminders at clinics and ERs that Pfizer protease inhibitor, Paxlovid (sp?) was availalbe at the local pharmacies.

To even those points, in Texas the more rural areas have a tendency to trail on variants, which places them likely in a 50/50 delta/omnicron vs. urban areas where it may be 20/80 split.

If a patient has severe lower respiratory symptoms, protracted symptoms and more severe presentation w/ risk factors like elevating dimer, hypoalbuminemia, DM, obesity..... this likely points to DELTA and REGENERON should be given before day 7-8.

No, point of care Antigen or PCR tests do not detect variant strains.

Antigen tests do NOT even discriminate between SARS-CoV1 and SARS-CoV2, and they cannot tell you if you do NOT have C19, only if you have it. Any negative Ag test is to be confirmed by clinical data and molecular testing (PCR).

I tested positive a little over a week ago. The earliest they could schedule me for MCAs was Christmas Eve. I ended up being fine in like a day but forgot to cancel my MCAs appointment. They called me on Thursday saying they had to cancel my appointment because the state of Texas was ordering everyone to stop since the batch they had didn't work well against Omnicron. Everyone had to wait to get a batch that apparently worked better against Omnicron. I asked them if they were still vaccinating people since you could apply the same rules to the vaccinations. Of course you could still get a vaccine that doesn't work against Omnicron but not MCAs…what a world to live in.

The State of Texas can make their own mono antibody stuff...
