We are hosting and have quite a few family members come in today. Someone suggested testing to be careful, I quickly replied no, and just pretend I have it and I'll be here. Come if you'd like. Everyone is coming.

Point being, if you are open to travel, you are open to getting it. Stop with the nonsense.

No problems. Only a small fraction of us vaccinated, none boosted, and lots of natural immunity.

Killing grandma is going to be a short lived tradition.

Little kids seem to have perpetual sniffles, but can't recall meeting up with family any time in life where someone was ill (flu, strep, etc). If you know you have covid from an at home test and not feeling well don't see it's any different.

The eldest in my family are the ones who travel the most. Europe, Vegas, etc.

I wouldn't want someone with flu coming to a gathering. Cold maybe.

I've never been tested for the flu and never got Covid tested either. Doesn't the vaccine protect those who are concerned with their natural immunity protection? This version of Covid going around is pretty much the sniffles. People wouldn't know the difference if they didn't test for it.
Good for you.

Well, I'm not asking anyone why they got tested.....

BUT - whether you have COVID or not - if someone is sick, they don't need to be around anyone who is fragile, old, immunocompromised, etc. So there really is no point in getting tested, no matter how much people tell them they "did the right thing".

How did you previously handle Christmas if you or a family member had a cold. Our son has had a cold around Christmas time and people always told us to still bring him. We've had family members with colds as well. If your family members are young and healthy or vaccinated I'm surprised they would cancel due to Covid at this point 2 years later.

Can't imagine sane people cancelling for youth age people. I can imagine sane people cancelling for elderly exposures. Have to think many Christmas gatherings involve youth positive and young adult positives in very close contact with grandparents. Those events I can see families delaying Christmas.

Are you saying if someone in your house had Covid that everyone in the extended family would still come?

A week before Christmas 2019 my ex girlfriend tested positive for the flu. I never got sick so I decided to go to my family's Christmas party. I stayed away from my grandma in her 90s and said hi from a distance, just in case. I also made it clear to folks that the reason my gf wasn't there was because she had the flu.

Basically, I acted how people should act. Even with Covid because it's just another respiratory virus like the flu.

There is a difference between some sniffles and a high fever. Why test people with the sniffles. We never would have historically.
You don't have to have symptoms to get a test as more and more activities require it (camps for kids, church trips, concerts and some jobs). I presently have mild symptoms and can't find an at home test, and Walgreens is booked through the next two weeks. I'm curious to know how many being tested have any symptoms at all.

Yes my brothers and their kids would who have already had it. I would as well as I already had it and didn't even know I had it.
