Good vax news from my work

Kinda depressing start to the morning, uplifted by a home run from HR (barring any pine tar protests of course).

Team call where manager talked about his 65+ SiL who has been in the hospital for 3 weeks with the Vid.
He said she's past the difficult part and should recover.
And then he follows up with - maybe after she gets out of the hospital, she'll finally get vaccinated.

Manager and a couple teammates start bragging about getting their booster shots.

Really a depressing way to get started.

But, after that meeting HR came out and told us that if you're a remote worker, you will not be required to get the vax. If you need to go into an office, you can get the vax and not wear a mask or, take a PCR test and wear a mask.

Considering this is a Bay Area company, I'm pleasantly surprised.

There are so many Corona fear peddlers out there that I have been preparing myself mentally and financially to be out of work by January. This has seriously kept me up a couple nights. But... it looks like as long as Brandon doesn't win in the courts, I should be good to go.

Discussion in a later meeting brought up the fact that the TSA vax deadline is Monday. So good luck if you're flying for Thanksgiving. Apparently the vax rate at the TSA is about 60%.

So she gets over it...has natural immunity...and this dunderhead wants her to get the vax? Does your boss have pointy hair and does your dog where glasses?

Our CA-based company "blinked" and will be requiring most everyone back into the office, regardless of vax status.

Money talks......

Must be nice. The hammer is coming for us and to make it worse they found a loop hole to let all the field guys not get it because they know there would've been a mass exodus. All office personnel though will be required to have it by January 18 just because there happens to be 1 person (literally) in the entire building that works on a federal contract therefore every person based in that office is required to get it. My VP already knows I won't get it, which means I am likely out of a job (for a company that I really like working for) come January 18 along with 5 other PMs.

How are they exempting field employees? I heard of a major pipeline company doing this because they knew they would lose a ton of field hands.

Crazy how f***ed up things are that this is considered a "win" throughout much of the country. I think the founders would consider nothing short of victory on the battlefield a "win". Remember how they responded to a tea tax.

I have a buddy who got the vax and a few days later got a bad case of Covid. Liberal Coronabro buddy asked "when do you get your 2nd shot?!"

His answer: "I don't, I have immunity now"

Liberal Coronabro buddy was perplexed.

This thread is sad. So glad I live in a ultra-conservative city where liberals tend to stay in the closet. Maggots!

Actually, my boss is really cool about 99.7% of the time.
I really like working for him and I've learned a lot from him already.
It's just when it comes to the Vid that he's nuts.

Oh it gets better, HR sent us a vignette about one of the leaders in the company who is gay.
He's so glad that unlike the backward state he's from, here in the Bay, he can live as his real self with his husband.
And apparently Pride is supposed to be celebrated year round, not just in June. So I guess we'll be getting more of these feel good messages.

I wonder if I can get them to do a write up about me when I move to Texas so I can live as my true self with my not California compliant guns?

It's pretty sad when being able to keep your job without taking experimental and unnecessary medicine feels like an achievement.

It's crazy to think but on the Federal contract side that's exactly how they've constructed the requirement. They build in the contamination angle…. It's intentional. Plus, under the federal contract program you can't take a weekly test in lieu of the jab.

Seems like it would be easier to rent that one employee some office space elsewhere or have him work from home and get around that.

So let me get this straight. If you're vaccinated then you can still spread covid, but those people don't have to wear a mask? But if you actually test negative, meaning it's 100% chance you're not going to spread it, you have to wear a mask? Hmmm. Science.
And these magical masks that have been proven to stop nothing. Heck even our governor Polis has figured that out and he's an idiot about most everything else.

Maybe loophole was a poor choice of words, but essentially the order says anyone working on the federal contract or working in the same building as someone working on the contract. So since the field guys aren't working on the contract and aren't based out of the Houston office, they aren't subject to the order, but since I work on the 13th floor of the same building with someone who works on a federal contract (18th floor), I'm somehow considered a risk and am subject to the mandate.

A little nugget about another employer in South Texas, with over 100 employees.

Company issued policy last week saying everyone had to get the shot, if not would be suspended, and if still refused would be terminated.

Fast forward to Tuesday of this week as 90%+ of employees indicated they would not get the shot and were tendering their resignation.

Lo and behold, the company changed policy on Wednesday.
I know NOTHING!!!!

Liberals live in some fantasyland where they are constantly told that gays are running for their lives in Texas. I'm cool if they keep believing that, keep Libs out of Texas.

So they don't actually believe the shot will save everyone's life.

Gotcha. My company has not interpreted this mandate EO the same way. They say all employees...even field people need the shot..

We all knew they'd find a way to exempt the field guys. The vast majority of employees that aren't;t vaccinated are the guys in the field and upper management knew there would be a huge walk out by those guys if they put the mandate on them.
