Like most things, there will be an extreme variance in how people define Putin "winning" and "losing" this battle.

Biden and many others are trying to set the bar for a Putin "loss" as anything less than Russia taking over all of Ukraine and establishing a new Soviet Union.

This is actually a win for Putin if he shows the world and China that a sovereign country can be invaded at will, with zero outside direct military intervention. Just weapons aid and economic sanctions.

Maybe Putin ends up annexing the Ukraine countryside in exchange for a withdrawal from Kyiv. That's doesn't sound much like a Ukrainian victory, but instead merely survival. Then Putin can live out his legacy ensuring NATO is kept in check.

I'm not sure he's keeping NATO "in check".

In fact, other countries may look to join NATO as a result of this invasion.

With Canada closing off their airspace and making it impossible for Russia to fly over the poles, sure they're not happy.

I read something earlier today that Russia violated Canadian airspace last night but never saw anymore about it.
